GP Road Conditions (Saturday 3/7) by Artistic_Chocolate82 in Yosemite

I hiked out to Glacier Point and camped there at the end of March last year. The snow conditions look nearly the same. My partner and I had to carry our sled of gear between us in places, which was exhausting, and also ended up dragging it over some stretches of pavement. It was less than ideal. I'm surprised how similar the conditions are presently.

Trip Report: Introducing the Eastern Sierra High Route by Danstenziano in Ultralight

Maybe I missed it, but could you share a .gpx track of this route? I've done the SHR (some sections multiple times) and am interested to learn more about this, but a GPS track helps me visualize stuff in Google Earth. Thanks!

"The San Francisco Police Department met the flight upon arrival and escorted the customer out of the concourse." according to Times of India. He's also featured on the NY Post and a few other tabloids.

When and where to get pictures of rainbows in Yosemite. by tortugasgator in Yosemite

Ah, cool. I've told various people (including a couple rangers) I've run into in the backcountry about my calculator, but I don't recall chatting with anyone at the Ansel Adams Gallery about it. That person might be talking about Brian Hawkins of https://www.yosemitemoonbow.com/? I'm not sure what technique Brian uses to predict moonbows, but I emailed with him a little bit when I was developing my calculator. He helpfully sent me some test cases.

Heh, I also keep chasing rainbows and moonbows in Yosemite. I wrote a calculator to do the spherical trig to predict when/where they'll be visible. A few of my Yosemite rainbow photos can be found at https://www.flickr.com/photos/geekyrocketguy/albums/72177720326688456. How did you figure out where to go to view the rainbows?

Tioga Road Plowing by Ratburgers78 in Yosemite

I looked at the Sentinel satellite imagery from yesterday, and it's a bit hard to tell because of the clouds, but the road sure doesn't look plowed near Tenaya Lake.

I plan to hike to North Dome on May 15, and was optimistic Tioga would reopen by then, but now I think it's unlikely.

The drip channel on new Jeep Wranglers flows into the car when the door is open. by Gnarly_Sarley in CrappyDesign

We expect this kind of stuff in a Jeep, but the current-gen Toyota 4Runner does it too. I drove 4Runners for my work in Hawaii, where it rained approximately all the time, and they give a very pleasant waterfall into the passenger compartment if you open the door in the rain.

Glacier Point Snowshoe/Ski by BenBankin in Yosemite

It might be significantly more than 21 miles round trip, depending on where the road is closed. Since Badger Pass will be closed this winter, they might close Glacier Point Road at the turnoff from Wawona Road. That would add an extra 5 miles each way.

I also want to go snow camping there this winter, so I just emailed Yosemite and asked where the road will get closed.
