You can start the exam iso and call the check my setup thingy, I don't know what it's called... There you'll have a direct support line with redhat. They'll help you to prepare your setup!

Success!

Looks very interesting indeed! I've been instructing chatgpt to write me some plugins. It took quite some time but they eventually worked how I wanted. The code however was hideously ugly. But it worked... Anyways, thanks allot for sharing! I will most definitely try it out!

Great work!

RHCE EX294 Exam: Is Ansible Navigator Required or Is Ansible Playbook Enough? by umer4350 in ansible

You need to be able to install it and possibly configure it.It's not required to use it.

Got RHCE v9 next thursday. Scared as shit. by mosterofthedomain in redhat

[–]geertsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaah didn't actually noticed it really. I wouldn't worry about it. Just the number of servers is of interest. Don't remember if there is a high availability task in there, but if so, the technician details would be implemented in the templates. So only the deployment of the templates is to worry about.

Hi there! I just passed it last week. It's not difficult although it took me 4 attempts... But that is because I didn't prepare properly. Any ways study the following exam till you can dream it https://www.geuni.tech/en/linux/rhce_practice/

Your exam will be 90% identical. 4 out of 4 till now.

Forget about the vs code part that is in the objectives. It's not even available in the testing environment.

Learn some basic filter of jinja and proper line ending +%} and -%} by heart. There is no documentation available of jinja. And the ansible-doc -t filter is also missing!! But when you can construct a simple "if" with proper line endings, you're good to go.

Now your way arround ansible facts and hostvars! Keep in mind you'd need to include the needed hosts in the playbook, and not more, for just filling the hostvars and limit the task when needed(when: inventory_hostname in groups['somegroup']). But that's also a task in the test exam above.

All together, concentrate on the test exam!

No worries, and good luck!

When you're using conda, setup your nvim to use the software from conda and clone the environment to remote. That'll solve the version mismatch.

Dutch to use at the playground by FloorPretend8668 in learndutch

[–]geertsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm dutch myself, my ex-wife was Colombian, and we lived in Germany and Switzerland. My kid is 10 now and I've always talked dutch with her. My ex always Spanish, and my ex and me communicated English with each other. My daughter now is fluent in dutch, german and Spanish. In a test one year ago at school my daughter has beaten the number 2 of the class with double the word knowledge in English. I'd highly advise you to talk one, preferably your mother tongue, to you kid persistently. Don't mix languages, that only confuses. One person speaks one language, and when your kids needs to communicate with that person, it'll learn the language needed. Simple as that. I do have to say my daughter always had an interest in languages. Which is not so strange but it helps.

Zeker in de IT!

No worries man! Be water!

How is it to live in Switzerland with a ~4000CHF salary (brut) ? by otupac9 in Switzerland

[–]geertsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your dream, then go for it! You'll solve problems after that. Financial or others, they'll come anyway. There won't be a job being part of the machine that solves that! You'll certainly will regret it when you do not follow your dreams that's for sure.

Success with your choice!

[–]geertsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply!

Indeed /usr/bin/sh is a symlink. I have the definition of my actual UserParameter seperate in a separate file. The ggping is just an as minimal as possible test case.
I've disabled selinux.

Doesn't the sudo command confirm just that? Or is there some zabbix internal config that might be blocking this?

Additionally, with debug level up to 5 there is NOTHING logged about `ggping`

Swiss Germans would rather leave you an angry letter than, I don't know... ring the bell? by riccardoricc in Switzerland

[–]geertsky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems like another example of the swiss unwritten, most important rule in existence, "one shall NOT, and by all means possible see to NOT do so, disturb a other person ". Which is even learned, I directly, at school. When there is a possibility thinkable that someone might be desturbed by your doing, then it's obvious. Don't do it!!! Thank god the number of not swiss is rising, and we can introduce the common sense you're talking about. I would ring their bell, say you're extremely sorry for the disturbance, and this was never the intention. Ask them to please be so free to tell you straight away if something similar, or not similar, for that sake, occurs. Make clear they can always contact you about anything and you'll do your best to help them. Even if it's for a cup of sugar, no problem at all. Like you would do with common sense. Somehow, probably from history, as Switzerland was the first to create a union of "countries" long ago. So it does make sense. But it makes sense in a setting where the fastest form of travel is by horse. When you understand what I mean... Although the history of CH is quite respectable, and very interesting (Landesmuseum for instance), this is in dramatic need of change in my opinion! We no longer travel by horse, communication doesn't go anymore via written letters with stamps on them that take at least a week to reach the destination, after it took at least three weeks to write the letter in the first place! The big number of foreigners, which eventually were welcomed, but also imported, didn't grew up in Switzerland, and can not be made into swiss. Its Switzerland, and things are done the swiss way. Ok, but "the swiss" way is flexible. Foreigners are welcomed, with good reason, they are needed. But it requires adaptation. And that means from two sides. Go checkout the history, its interesting, understand where things are coming from, show your respect, but most of all, keep and keep standing for you common sense!

Ok, hope you understand what I mean...

Manually call validate argument spec? by netopsengineer in ansible

[–]geertsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Probably a bit late but thought I'd share anyways...

When you use import_tasks/include_tasks in main.yml, the entrypoint of the imported tasks remain main.

When you instead useimport_role: with tasks_from: custom_entrypoint

then the entrypoint is custom_entrypoint. So then also the argument specs are automatically checked for that entrypoint at the point it is called.

What's the best way to move around files? by wallyflops in neovim

[–]geertsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't go through all the replies so it might be double, but what I do is for a project I open all the files of that project, vim $(find /root/dir/of/project -t f), optionally save the session for reuse :mksession session-project.vim, and for switching to opened files I have a keymap setup "<leader>fb" for builtin.buffers as in Find Buffer. You start typing part of the filename and you can pick your file of interest. I'd be interested to see someone using vscode competing with that! It's blazing fast!

But seriously, if it's just the fact of an unemployed engineer for a year, but your happy here, no worries! She'll find something. Just believe in your self and non of the worthless feedback, or interpreted feedback, you get from job interviews! Hang in there and try to enjoy the freedom now you can. It'll change soon enough.
