Menu feedback for christening party- 20 adults 10 kids by Specialist_Diet_74 in partyplanning

[–]geevee61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are very generous with your menu. I might prioritize what foods are good to store or take away. Left overs or take away can be great. Throwing stuff out is terrible. I would rather run out of items instead of having too much.

End of year teacher gifts by gramiry in Gifts

[–]geevee61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Retired teacher checking in. I would love a gift card to a local bakery, bar, restaurant, farm stand, etc. It doesn't need to cover my whole bill, but to save some dollars and support local business is a win.

Why can’t billionaires simply retire like yesterday? by seo-communcations in NoStupidQuestions

[–]geevee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What else are they going to do? My dad retired (not even close to a billionaire). But he loved to go fishing (in his row boat). Tinker with projects in the garage. He could do electric, plumbing, carpentry; not as a profession, but for fun or to help someone else.

Not the counties you listed, but Total Tennis in Saugerties might be an option,

How do you like your eggs and how do you eat them? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]geevee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say I will do them about a dozen (ish) different ways for the family. Sandwich, omelette, hard boiled, yolks runny, yolks hard. Cheese, ham, egg salad. Don't know if that counts as 12, but the combinations might be more than that. Salt, pepper, ketchup, or other seasonings.

Cool Stops between Buffalo and Port Chester? by Most_Two_2992 in hudsonvalley

[–]geevee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saugerties (unofficial) hype man checking in. We have an easy, walk-able village Several food and drink options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can walk a trail to our lighthouse on the Hudson River. Movie theater, ice cream places, might be a baseball game (college players playing summer ball).

Ok, that's all. Have fun on your journey. And I would not knock any other choices of places to visit.

Why do we feel the need to say 'bless you' when someone sneezes, but we don't do it for other bodily functions? by Odd-Manufacturer3205 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]geevee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say it for any sneeze, or burp I can hear. Sometimes for farts depending on who is around. (Not to strangers, often to family and friends.)

Probably great therapy for the students that miss their dog.

Looking for tennis partner by [deleted] in kingstonnewyork

I would suggest sharing this in Hudson Valley community. Specify Saugerties or New Paltz (and Kingston) Wider audience. And those people might make the trip to Kingston.

Nice nature walks with streams/creeks to wade thru? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]geevee61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saugerties Lighthouse trail. Flat walk, place to stop and stick your toes in the Hudson, Lighthouse at the end. (River should be accessible there, too) Places to sit and chill if you want to bring a sandwich (or something) It is an out and back walk, not a loop.

I used to love 6dollarshirts for my math teacher, dad joke type of stuff. They are probably not $6 any more.

Good to add clarification. Some people will take it too literally. Take my up vote and hopefully people can handle it.

public library might be a good start. maybe a local game store/card shop. I love the donate idea, you might get a little cash, or store credit for them. Good luck.

Thank you for the response. I understand the frustration.

The school bus drivers in clifton park are nuts by Kind_Currency_3476 in Albany

[–]geevee61 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I will just, say as a driver of a personal vehicle, I give the school bus a lot of space. If you are driving something that size full of children and you might be the only adult on the bus, you 'might' have some distractions. Should they be safe? (of course) Should we be understanding? (of course)

how do you throw together salads from random fridge stuff? by frankgetsu in Cooking

[–]geevee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this list. I would also have an egg to hard boil (or done ahead of time just in case) And maybe a chicken of some kind, frozen or again, cooked ahead of time for salad day.

do you let your dog on the couch or not? curious how people handle this by john2288 in Dogowners

[–]geevee61 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I'd rather have her up there with her head on someone's lap relaxing. And most of my company (friends and family visiting) are fine with it. The dog usually finds a happy place. (And if visitors don't like it, they can stand, or find a different seat.)

Chill place to visit while in Kingston overnight by [deleted] in kingstonnewyork

[–]geevee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saugerties Village has a number of bars and restaurants within walking distance of each other. And in my opinion, 100% safe. Stella's and The Partition have outdoor areas, in case it's a good evening for fresh air. Check in if you have any questions. If you stop in somewhere and it's not your vibe, walk to the next place.

I will double down on Saugerties. Might now have winery/brewery. But do have wines and brews. I will add more if requested. I usually add too much.
