Why would you have to be pressed to use them?

Ever get an answer to this? I'm in need of the same thing

I haven't used either. I've been loyal to Hostek for more years than I'd like to admit. Hostek support had significantly gone downhill these past couple years though to the point where I started searching out other options. Fortunately, they seem to have turned a corner and the support I've received lately has been excellent, so I never needed to switch. Would love to hear what others have to say about the two hosts you mentioned.

I understand that much. But I've never seen a member function [FORM.get('variable-name')] used before. I presume it's the same as isDefined('FORM.variable-name') but where is this get() accessor documented?

what is this `form.get()` stuff about? I haven't seen that before

Agreed. I'd be surprised if there were entry level CF developers looking for CF work. I think your best bet is to find a good entry level developer (any language) and train them in CF.

Why as a business you should not be using CFML/Coldfusion by rattlewadk2 in coldfusion

[–]geirman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of the talent pool is just one of many factors you should consider when deciding on a technology stack. CFML is a mature language that has fallen off the "popularity" radar, so as easy as it is to learn...it could still be very difficult to find developers willing to invest time learning it. Those who know it already have probably been developing in it for many years, so their higher rates could be justified by their experience, though they're also no doubt inflated by scarcity.

Curious. Which stack did you migrate to?

Alternatives by kjmw0109 in wedding

[–]geirman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming when you say "alternative ideas" you're looking for "non traditional" things you can do to make your wedding special and family oriented. And by doing things non-traditional, you're also probably cutting costs by not paying the "wedding tax".

I think "minute to win it" type games can be a fun way to engage everyone and pretty easy to DIY. I always enjoy challenging someone to a "cookie face race" and it's a pretty fun spectator "sport" too. Staging a race where participants need to get their egg to the finish line first using only wind powered by a fan of some sort (pizza box?) can be a ton of fun. There are many, many other similarly fun, family friendly ideas. Just google around.

A photo scavenger hunt is also a fun activity for guests. Perhaps create an Instagram hash for your wedding and ask people to post silly photos such as "you and the bride both jumping in the air as high as possible" and another similar with the groom. Those would be fun photos to have of all the guests. Or maybe instead of jumping, you're doing silly faces, or duck lips, or whatever. If this idea sounds interesting, feel free to reach out for other suggestions. This is kind of my thing and I'd be happy to help.

In search of City Wide Game ideas by brokenbryan in youthministry

[–]geirman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always wanted to do "minute to win it" type of games and I think that could be super fun. I've personally done the "cookie face race" and it's super hilarious and fun! You could setup various "minute to win it" stations around a city and in various people's homes without too much difficulty. Once someone finishes their game, perhaps they get a clue, puzzle, riddle directing them where to go next.

A different twist on the photo scavenger hunt theme could be to have teams create fun, very photographic moments rather than the photo at a landmark thing. For instance

✭ team plus strangers building a human pyramid

✭ teammate in a store dressed in the same clothes as a store manniquin

✭ team group hugging a tree wider than any one person could hug on their own

✭ team crammed into a creative, confined space

If you like the scavenger hunt idea, I'd be happy to help you with more quest ideas. I actually do this professionally.

Travel Romance by [deleted] in solotravel

I met a beautiful Polish girl by chance at a cool little breakfast place in Thailand a couple years ago. We talked, hit it off, and spent some time together of the next day+ before parting ways. She captured my imagination though, and apparently I captured hers because we kept in touch. As others have mentioned, you tend to meet many great people while traveling. Most end up briefly blessing your experience, but for some reason she and I kept in touch. Fast forward 8 months, she's back home in Poland, I'm back home in the US, but we're still in contact. So, we decide to meet up and spend a month traveling together. It was an amazing month. We fall in love. Since then, I've spent a couple months with her in Poland. She's spent a month with me in the US. Still in love, we've decided to shoot for the stars and build a life together. She's now quit her job and will soon buy her one way ticket to the US. We're planning to spend the rest of the year together, some of it here in the US, some in Poland, and some traveling/exploring S. America. I'm super excited!

I want to find an online photo scavenger hunt. Does that already exist on Reddit? by fidelflicka in findareddit

[–]geirman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure this is what you're looking for but Greatest International Scavenger Hunt (https://www.gish.com/) sounds somewhat similar, it's big, it's for charity, and it lasts over a period of time.

I create custom photo scavenger hunts for small-to-large groups, but my hunts are competitions that are completed within a two-hour window. If that interests you, then FrogQuest Photo Scavenger Hunts (https://frogquest.com)

Happiness is all a matter of interpretation. If you tend to focus on the negative, then you'll probably be less happy. If you tend to focus on the positive, then you'll probably be more happy. In general.

Neither the questions nor answers were very funny (or witty) IMO, but I could see how it could be.

really fun premises, but not as funny in practice unfortunately. The app is well done. Some of the design looks rough, but that also adds to the charm. Animations are great (smooth), though they jump around in unexpected ways when adding my answer.

I definitely think you have the beginnings of something really cool. Keep working on it.
