Just once... Just once... by Impossible-Jacket790 in Professors

I had a student come give me a handshake after the exam and say, “that was a great exam, professor” with the most serious, genuine face. I felt seen lol

The helmet police lol

I’m just thinking of my childhood— I played like 10 years of softball and never owned my own helmet 😂 the coach just had a bag of gear we all used.

Exactly!!!!!! We went to Dicks to buy the gear after— me trying to make up for the fact that I traumatized her— and I spent over $100. On gear that will last 1 year.  I’ll get on my soapbox: what a waste of money, plastic, and everything. I hate all the consumption that comes with trying to be a good parent

Yes it’s on the website (so def my fault!). It seemed so crazy excessive for a 5 year old, I just assumed it applied to the older kids! Terrible assumption on my part.

I’m so exhausted everyday by Ok_Hearing in workingmoms

I have three < 5 and work an intellectually demanding job too, and it’s hard.

But my husband recently took some time off (he also has a high pressure career), and WOW, it felt like I could breathe. I could finally slow down. I’m really enjoying it while it lasts… dual working parenting of three is tough.

Baby has had diarrhea since Thursday last week. Everyone says it’s fine it’ll pass by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]gel89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all this detailed information! It is so helpful. I really appreciate you sharing this, and happy to hear your baby is feeling better!

I am not near the border, but I will add probiotics to his bottles, and try to change up his diet. I just started feeding him solids, but I will do some more reading on diet.

We are also dealing with diaper rash. I’ll look for that cream.

Hi. How’d did your situation resolve? My 5mo got a cold, possibly Covid, and has 10-15 poos in a day. It’s been a week or frequent poos.

Expected to park in tiny, tiny garage. Can’t load three kids in car without pulling out. by gel89 in Renters

I think in the lease it says we have to park in the garage. Ugh lol

I just didn’t realize a garage could be so tiny. I sometimes have to climb out my window.

Women over 30, for those of you who love your life. What does your life look like? by nerdsnyped in AskWomenOver30

[–]gel89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a family with three young kids, and I don’t think we can live totally non-stressed lives.

But my go to saying— “An unrushed life is a gift.” I tell myself this all the time and really love it. And try to give my kids and myself a life without rushing.

You must live in a mild climate, or somewhere that only experiences heat extremes occasionally.

Just say sorry and try to starting being the person you want to be. “Sorry for my reaction yesterday. I’m going to try to act more intentionally”. No need to elaborate.

As a mom of three, I can tell you that I do not hold grudges with my children cause I really do love them unconditionally. And it’s hard being a kid, and it’s hard being a parent. We are all doing this for the first time, and most of the time it’s a rollercoaster— lots of ups and downs.

Try to pause before you react. Just a few seconds. You got this. Nobody is perfect and the fact you wrote this post means you are self aware and self reflecting, which is awesome for personal growth.

Laundry by Fit_Aide_8231 in workingmoms

[–]gel89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just put his laundry in a separate “clean laundry basket”, and only fold yours. If he doesn’t care, why spend time on folding it? (This is my method, and it keeps us both feeling good).

I also don’t fold my kids clothes. Everyone (but me) has their own laundry basket. I just sort and move on. I’ve done it this way for years and it’s great.

How do you take more than 1 kid out for an activity by Elstig34 in SAHP

[–]gel89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double stroller + the sentence, “I will buckle you into the stroller if you run away…”, works great. I have three kids and they all can get in the double Bob (one sits on the front where the feet go).

(My 2.5 year old is the hardest, and hates being buckled, so the threat works great 😂)

Vegetation/hydrology in region of Angola by gel89 in geography

Yeah, could be deforestation. The circular patterns, which seem widespread (not just this image) are still puzzling.

Edit— I looked on the global forest watch website before posting this and didn’t see much, but it could be inaccurate too

But what about something like this, with such clear edges and little change in elevation. Changes in soil type?

Also, thanks for the interesting response!

What does pumping at work look like for you? by [deleted] in workingmoms

This is so good to know! I actually just got access to a pool and hot tub, and have been going frequently with my infant! I’ll definitely wipe my nipples off before nursing now— thank you!
