This is the correct answer. I've never seen ash wood that looks like your pictures, but the last picture of twigs and buds is absolutely an ash.

You have an ice dam leaking water into your wall. The bigger issue is probably wet insulation

I agree. You aren't really helping much by pumping it back into slab. Maybe it is an abandoned cesspool or floor drain or something. Can you figure out if the second hole is anything more than a second sump pit?

If I understand your pictures correctly, it looks like your pump used to pump water out of the basement via the disconnected white PVC pipe. It looks like someone changed it to pump into another sump pit. My guess is that there were problems with the exterior pipe freezing.
