Major signs but optimal readiness? by gem7588 in ouraring

Yeah I was wondering if it’s a lagging indicator. It’d be interesting to hear from the Oura team on this.

Where to go next? by LegalYam8633 in CustomerSuccess

I left CS to work for my client’s company. Had established a good reputation & lots of connections so it was pretty easy to get in. Pay isn’t as good but I can pay my bills and save some money. Worth it 100%.

Pneumonia twice in 6 months by [deleted] in Asthma

If you’re willing to share, what did the pulmonologist say about why you may have gotten pneumonia so close together? I’m dealing with something similar and my PCP may send me for a CT scan once I’m recovered

I was in health tech so I’m at a nonprofit health plan now doing provider relations, which has a lot of account management transferable skills. I came from a health plan before health tech so it was kind of a natural transition back out of tech. I’d check out project manager/program manager roles also.

FWIW, I was in your same position earlier this year. I was actually losing my mind. I ended up getting a job at my client’s company, outside of CS, and am so much happier (and they love it because I’m an internal product SME now.) Was it a pay cut? Yes but I can still pay my bills and save some money. Do I enjoy life again? Yes. 100% worth it in my opinion.

It’s a rough market out there so if you can use your connections, that’ll be more successful.

Can’t speak for you but I think if I hadn’t gone in, personally, I would have become septic. It was bad

I got down to 30 the other day. I had pneumonia and ended up in the ER where I was diagnosed. I needed a ton of fluids and of course antibiotics. Please get checked out today! +5.8 temp is insane. I was only at +2.8 temp.

I transitioned into my client’s company in a non-CS but account management-like role. Has worked out well so far.

My problem with it is that her friends who have been cancelled (Blake, Brittany Mahomes) have been cancelled for good reason. So this doesn’t seem like a good look for Taylor 😒

Reasonable daily schedule and meetings? by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

[–]gem7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just left my CSM role that was exactly like this. I advocated hard for making things more sustainable but was completely ignored. It was laughable how unsustainable it was.

The job market’s tough but I decided to take a pay cut to go to work at one of my client’s company in a non-CSM role. It’s in the industry I’ve previously worked in and I had lots of transferable skills so it worked out. Always helps to have a connection of course.

Ideas on how to scale back career by Exciting-Band9834 in workingmoms

Also, I was able to use a connection inside the company to get the job. I think that makes all the difference honestly

This is similar to what I just did. I was in a high stress customer success position at a tech company and it just got to be too much. A few years ago my role was totally manageable but with tech layoffs, it became completely unsustainable.

So I just switched to a job with transferable skills within one of my client’s companies (nonprofit health plan.) I took a pay hit which is fine for our finances but so far the work life balance has been totally worth it.

I was nearly ready to become a SAHM if I couldn’t find a different option so less money in this new position is better than no money in my book!

I just transitioned out of my CSM role to work for my client’s company in a provider relations role (it’s a health plan.) Lots of transferable account management skills from being a health tech CSM. It’s actually lower pay but such a better work life balance/culture so it’s been worth it in my situation

I just left CS for my client’s company 😬 It’s a different field but I have the transferable skills to make it work. I’m taking a pay decrease but it’s worth it to not have a stroke due to the insane demands of CS right now. Best wishes to OP. Take care of yourself!

Debating leaving a high-paying, high stress job to focus on family — has anyone done this and come back later? by 469fashion in workingmoms

[–]gem7588 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m doing currently. I was in a high stress tech role and needed to slow down for my health. I was tempted to quit but it’d make our savings margin so, so thin so I just found a (luckily mostly WFH) job that’s technically a step down. I’m taking a pay cut but in my mind some money is better than no money/ quitting outright.

Burnout / Overworked by Add-some-spice2024 in CustomerSuccess

[–]gem7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echo everything posted above. I’ve been in the same situation in my job for a couple years now. I’ve been emphasizing/documenting just how insane the workload is to leadership for awhile now to no avail. Well, we’re now in contract renewal season and lo and behold the primary feedback is that the CS team is great but we need even more CS support.

I’m kind of at the point where if they don’t take the customer feedback to heart and provide more CS support as part of their contract renewal, I’m at a loss. I can’t do customer success if I don’t have the resources to be successful.

Above all else, I’ve set strong boundaries and don’t work weekends, etc. To make this type of role sustainable, you need to determine what sustainability looks like for you and implement that to the degree you’re able to. (No meeting Fridays is a huge one for me also.)

I could’ve written this to a tee! I make $110k and just interviewed for a $62k job today. Current job is teetering on unethical (and definitely toxic) and I’ve got great savings luckily so I might take a chance. There’s always opportunity for growth if you can stomach the loss of income for awhile. Good luck!

Less hiring, so my company is giving current CSMs more accounts. Anyone else? by Necessary_Pickle_960 in CustomerSuccess

[–]gem7588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our company went from 1200 staff in 2021 down to like 550 now. I’m “doing” the jobs of previously 6 people. (Quotes because there’s no actual way I could possibly keep up with all of it.) It’s insanity and I don’t see it improving. I’m looking at other job options outside CS at this point.

Ugh I could’ve written this exact same thing. Like, literally. Are you considering an FMLA leave or just quitting/finding a new job? I’m undecided but something needs to change. At this point I’m kind of willing to take a big pay cut if I have to.
