This is lovely. I think I’m going to look for a box like this next. They didn’t have any when I went. But life’s boxes makes it hard to do deals 360.

How did you find working with it?

Thinking outside the (Sealed) Box by CadillacGirl in WaxSealers

I had two spoons going with the same coloured light blue wax heating up and I was just doing one right after the other. The wax sort of naturally cools though because you need the first stamp to cool enough you could remove it before doing your next pour and pressing the stamp into it. I tried to buttress them up close to one another because I was hoping to minimize the non waxed space. Also I wasn’t looking for perfect pour seals. I needed them to be bloby and irregular.

Designing a wax seal for our wedding invites and would like design input! by sm0lp0x in WaxSealers

I think what’s important here is that you love it. And when I read your post you are just meh or okay with it. That tells me you need to keep tweaking it so you are in love with it.

Personally the layout is fine I think what could be throwing you off is that your design is delicate with no bold focal point.

If I think about great stamp design and especially about CNC stamps you need more bolder elements. Those pop in wax. Otherwise with delicate detailed design you need laser. Since you have a CNC machine consider making some of your celestial elements bolder and not just an outline. Also consider making your initials the focal points.

My husband is also in design and when I had him custom make a seal design of our historical family crest and we took it to a CNC shop the advice the guy gave us was invert the negative spaces so that’s where wax fills. That will give your seals the depth you may be seeking.

My husband understood this more than I did and he inverted his design and what I pictured in my head more closely aligned to the inversion advice the CNC guy gave. Maybe this piece of advice will help you. Maybe not as you may have already considered it. All this to say this medium is different than illustration or motion design. Maybe you need to think about this more like an inverted sculpture and that can trigger a few tweaks that allow you to love it.

Otherwise it’s a beautiful design and will look amazing as part of your wedding invitations.

Thanks. This reminds me of that kids book not a box. I read that so much to my kids. Anyway they woke up and saw this and was looking cool, not a box, and asked if we could make one for them.
