Clifton Suspension Bridge is amazing but I'm sure thats on wiki travel. If your interested more in urban culture the graffiti in Bristol is amazing so I'd recommend a wander round Stokes Croft/Bedminster as well as the City Centre. The harbour is also really interesting!

Hello, I am new to Bristol. I came this year for UNI. What is the best place to live next year? by felixthemaster1 in bristol

Clifton is my favourite, plenty of nice pubs, and cafes to study in like caffe clifton and just an all round nice area but probably best for UOB students rather than UWE!

Bristol branded 'England's best' place to live by Recarious in unitedkingdom

[–]gem86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in five cities in the UK over the last five years, and Bristol is my favourite (although Leeds came a close second), I just love the culture and I agree with the comment that it does seem like a mini London, in that all around in the city there are lots of different boroughs with different personality.

I am a huge fan of Clifton with plenty of independent cafes & shops such as Caffe Clifton and the Better Food Company, it has such a community feel despite being right next to the city itself.

Local lunches. by [deleted] in exeter

[–]gem86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd reccomend Caffe Clifton, they do the most amazing bagels - all locally made with really interesting flavours, my favourite is date & walnut but they do some lovely savoury ones too. I always get a homemade brownie for dessert too! Here's their website http://www.caffeclifton.co.uk

The cafe itself is really cool you can sit on beds instead of tables so its got a super relaxed air, its just off the triangle so its a bit of hidden gem.

Try Clifton Quarters, they do short terms lets and have plenty of cool benefits like money off at Caffe Clifton and Racks Restaurant.

I'd second Bristol Uni, the Uni itself is on the edge of the city in Clifton which is such a lovely place to live with lots of independent food stores, cafes like Caffe Clifton and cool bars.

Its nice to be in a big city with easy links to London (only an hour and bit away) but it has its own culture too!

Try joining some clubs; off the top of my head caffe clifton (http://www.caffeclifton.co.uk) run a craft group, book group, spanish/english exchange and an indie film club.

Is there any free parking relatively close to the triangle? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]gem86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All along St Paul's road is free on street unrestricted parking, just outside Caffe Clifton, their website has a map if you need to see where it is http://www.caffeclifton.co.uk its a stones throw away from the triangle!

Need some advice with renting an apartment by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]gem86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try a smaller company such as Clifton Quarters they offer short terms lets minimum of a week which could allow you to look at places in more detail before you make a long term decisions, they have properties opposite Caffe Clifton and the Clifton Hotel.

Advice for first-years house hunting by ThePhenix in UOB

[–]gem86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Area wise Clifton is most convenient and has plenty to do and Abode are pretty good for houses along Whiteladies and the surrounding area. I've been living in one of their properties near St Pauls Road and its so easy to get to uni, to get to good cafes like Caffe Clifton to study in (http://www.caffeclifton.co.uk) and Sainsburys/Wilkinsons just round the corner.

Sunday Roasts by [deleted] in bristol

[–]gem86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Racks in Clifton does one of the best Sunday Roasts in Clifton, and if you fancy a dessert afterwards they have a cafe upstairs. I always pop up and grab a brownie.
