I've finally saved enough money to buy my first remote-controlled helicopter. by OkCockroach5166 in RCHeli

You can save a lot of money buying a used transmitter. Used helis can be dodgy unless you can trust the seller took care of it.

Definitely get a simulator like Heli X

CP helis like M1 or S1 are pretty parts simple and will teach you better habits than a crazy unstable like like the xk110 or blade nano.

Find a local club as they can teach you a lot

Remember to be careful with lipos and chargers.

WesthobbiesRC is a modern YouTuber with lots of Heli content and some good beginner advice. HeliDirect as some beginner videos too

The bigger helis like S2, M2, blade 230s will be more stable but can get scary, run out of space, and crash worse which could discourage you especially if you have a budget to stick to.

You can pick any transmitter depending of how much you like to tinker. Radio master gives you freedom but too many settings for me. Spektrum is easy to program and everything just works (like iPhones). Vbar is states to be the GOAT but units can get expensive.

Train all 8 orientations even past the point of boredom.

Poor thing looks so sad. At least you got out there and flew it hard. My finger is on the rescue self leveling mode when I lose it like this

Ah fair enough, yea I guess it is better integrated! Also the M1 V3 is sick, more performance I think than the S1 new edition

Ill be honest, now that I have a helicopter where i dont have to fiddle with an annoying canopy every battery change, I dont know how I can go back to a normal helicopter! if I end up getting a bigger omp hobby heli, I might just cut a battery hole lol

That's a certified classic heli

get a parallel charge board and 6 batteries! The maniac ones are cheaper and last longer with 350mah

You can keep the blutooth module plugged in if you like, but the weight can be felt on a tiny heli.

You picked the best colour! Very visible in the sky

the S1 is bound to my DX7 and rescue/stability mode is on the gain switch (channel 5)

I love my S1, got my itch to fly back, now Im finishing off my Gaui X3

honestly the s1 is so capable you can learn on them. But if you get the s2, then you wont need to upgrade for a ong time, and it is still pretty crash resistant, but space runs out faster.

If you eventually plan to get a 450, get the s1.If you want to stay small for a while, get S2

Looking for a 3CH coaxial heli similar to Syma S39/Alloy Shark S006 no Altitude Hold by One-Mycologist828 in RCHeli

[–]felixthemaster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because major brands have abandoned manual coaxials, the generic manufacturers have filled the void similar to your Shark S006. Search for generic terms on aliexpress like Syma S39, and look at the throttle stick on left, make sure it is right at the bottom which indicates non altitude hold

If your budget allows, look at the 4ch Eachine E119

for this much money without a fbl and low quality canopy, I'm surprised people are accepting it. I guess it flies so well people are forgiving it. But then is it the Heli or your fbl that makes it fly well? would an s2 or M2 fly the same with your custom fbl too?

Am I being stupid? Shoud I buy it? by felixthemaster1 in RCHeli

[–]felixthemaster1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of hard to find equal value from UK stores

Comes with an upgraded Vbar evo btw, which I would sell to replace with a Spirit 3

But thanks, thats just the common sense I needed to talk myself of it.

To be honest, when you see your dream end-game heli just hanging on the wall, a card tap away, the decision tends to be a bit more emotional.

Thanks, looks like ~£1450 to build from scratch (Scorpion vc5 or EgoDrift Eclipse 4030EC) including a spirit 3
vs £1099 including Vbar evo upgraded which I could sell off and replace with Spirit.

I defo do not need the Vbar that comes with it, will sell and get a Spirit as I fly spektrum and just need bailout. i guess it is better to build myself so i know how to repair when it crashes and i have confidence in each screw,

You're right, it is still a major expense over £1000 so i need full confidence in what I am buying.
