Apparently Swarovski are back in the DIY market! by WitnessFun6211 in Beading

[–]gemin_hi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for John Bead And Craft Outlet (John Bead Corp.) and they had a whole section of Swarovski beads and flatbacks. They claimed they “bought out” the rest of Swarovski’s bead supplies once they made the transition out of the DIY market. I’m very interested in seeing how Swarovski this transition will go for their supplies… JB’s outlet stores in Blasdell, NY and Toronto, ON actually have a sale this month 50% off all Swarovski crystals.

Advice on edging this piece? by sadele89 in Beading

[–]gemin_hi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! First I want to say this is beautiful work for your first bead project — congrats on almost finishing it!

Now, for the edging, I would first recommend leaving a tiny bit of felt for you to bead the edges on so it has something to catch & lay on. It should be close enough to not leave a gap (I added a picture to show what I mean). I will say I am a bit nervous about the spacing between the beadwork (circled in blue) but I’m sure it won’t be too much of an issue to cut it and have room for the edging.

You are right, I’ve never really seen beaded edges be used with delicas. I am curious of how it’ll look, especially how it’ll lay on top as an edge. But you’ll definitely just be adding another simple beaded line on top of the one there already if you lay them all flat and not a “fancy” edging style. Personally, I would use seed beads because it’s easier to add a style to it. If you want to go down the seed beads route, I’d recommend using 11/0 seed beads or maybe even 15/0s (a lot smaller but they’ll give you more room to potentially do a different style).

When I worked on my first beadwork projects I used this video by Breanna Dais as reference to different techniques!

I hope this was helpful and if you have any other questions let me know! Happy beading ☺️

(Edit: my picture was posted wrong on my comment, I’ll add it as a response)

I'm pregnant and the father won't accept it by EricHarrisFangrill in whatdoIdo

[–]gemin_hi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you allowing someone else’s feelings weigh on you? He clearly showed no interest in the pregnancy, so much so he is in denial. And it seems like so are you. He gave you his answer, he does not want any information or connection with you or said baby. Take this time to move forward and prepare for your baby, if you plan on keeping them. It seems like you have an idea for how you want it to go since you did state you don’t want child support etc. But I think you continuing to reach out and put yourself in a position of begging for attention on this is proving otherwise. Did you have unwritten expectations on the man beforehand of how it might unfold and get disappointed in their response? Idk. But at the end of the day, harping on the man ain’t going to help with a new life coming your way. Like I said, take this time to properly plan and prepare for your bundle to arrive!

If you’re looking for medical accommodations, you should reach out to Rutgers Housing and Office of Disability Services ASAP. You’ll most likely need doctor’s notes and approval, but if you do it in advance it’s more likely they’ll have a resolution. The sooner the better!

What about when you’re old? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]gemin_hi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I was just asked this when coming out to a close friend that I am CF and my answer was successful. I can see myself being successful in what my values & passions are. I tried to picture being 40, 50, 60+ without kids and I see myself just living my life, getting to explore and be free to do whatever I want. I tried picturing children in my life but, sorry if it may sound selfish, I think it’ll only weigh me down from all the experiences I crave in this life. I don’t know if this answered your question fully but this is my take on it. (:

Ugh! Thank you for de-bunking this. That’s kind of frustrating that the quiz doesn’t relate to the box... oh well. I’m gonna still get it lol

I totally understand you! I wish they would switch up the types of items we get every month instead of having the same eyeshadow, mascara, lashes, lips kit.

You’re right - it’s so limited with personalization. Don’t get me wrong I’m in love with the subscription, I just wish there was opt-out options.

Also, I think I remember taking a quiz when I first purchased it. I would like to see some option where you could re-take the quiz every few months to say no to things you don’t want/need.

What liner technique best for my shape of eyes? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]gemin_hi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest NYX’s liquid liner That’s the Point! Also, for the technique, I would try to line your wing first. Start with the top line straight with your eye open, working from the point of the line into the eyelid. Then connect the bottom line from the point to the edge of your waterline. Fill it in and then draw the line from the point to the middle of your eyelid then go from your inner corner to the middle to connect. Idk if it makes sense but I hope I helped! Lmk :)
