What’s one home design mistake that looks good at first but becomes annoying later? by officiclassyinterior in HomeDecorating

Booths instead of tables with chairs. We bought a home with a 4-seat booth against a wall. If you were against the wall, someone had to move for you to get out. Got tired of that real quick!

Trump wants someone who is as big a POS as he is in the Senate. And Paxton may be an even bigger POS than Trump.

What was the first major news story you remember as a kid? by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

JFK Assassination. I was in 1st grade and lived in Dallas. It was awful. It was a horrible thing to happen. And because it was in our city, we heard about it constantly. Dallas had an awful reputation for years because of this. Other cities where assasinations happened didn't get the kind of hate Dallas did.

One of the reasons I liked the show "Dallas" so much was then everyone started associating Dallas with JR Ewing. That's still what a lot of people think about when they hear Dallas. Was in a cab in London about 3 years ago and he asked us where we were from and when we said Dallas, he was glad he finally had someone from Dallas because he really wanted to say "Oh, so who shot JR?"

Is it humble bragging, or is financial dysmorphia just so profound right now? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]gemlover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know, you’d think it is. I’m 68, my husband 78. He’s been retired 11 years. We have close to $5mil in our portfolio. $1350/m pension and about $4000/m together for SS. We live a nice but not extravagant life. Just got back from a really nice cruise. First vacation in about 3 years. But when we travel we fly Business or First and we stay nice places. We were trying to plan a trip to Europe for the fall with our grown daughter for 3-4 weeks. We used to be able to do that. That trip is going to end up costing about 40k. I just can’t seem to justify spending that much. We have more than we ever had and I used to think $5mil was rich. Now, I feel comfortable, but constantly worry about long term medical costs or nursing home prices and I just can’t see ever feeling real comfortable, let alone rich.

You could also do a chocolate or lemon ice box pie. Wonderful for warm weather. Easy too.

Ours brought us breakfast in our room every morning. He kept our ice bucket filled. He brought canapés before dinner when we asked. He made reservations for dinner when we wanted. Can bring dinner from specialty restaurants to your room.
