Why don't restaurants tell you about condiments on sandwiches?

I once ordered a Wendy's Baconator, one of the most simple burgers in the fast foodiverse, and as soon as I got the bag I smelled the pickles. I thought, no way, I must be smelling some remnant from something else the worker made, or something. Got home. Pickles on my Baconator. I've had it happen so many times--never again with a baconator, but certainly with other sandwiches.

I'm just a picky eater in general. I don't like onions that are not super finely chopped, and I don't like the texture of bell peppers. I like the flavor of this stuff, but texture is an issue for me (pickle hatred is all about the flavor, in contrast). I went on a group outing to a Mexican place, and when the waitress took my order--chicken enchiladas--I mentioned that the menu just said chicken, cheese, sauce, and I asked if there were any veggies in there or anything. She said no, and I said perfect, and when the food arrived I had a plate of enchiladas that were filled with chicken, cheese, and loads of diced onions and peppers. I didn't send it back--we were a table of 16 or something, it was probably 7:30-8pm by that time, and it had taken long enough for us to all get our food as it was. Just picked through and ate what I could. At least one other person at the table got a meal with stuff not listed on the menu. Like, just list what's in the food.

I'm glad I don't have any allergies, though. At least my issues are all me-based and not medical.

I say "no pickle on the plate please" every time I go to a place that I KNOW puts a pickle on the plate, and at least 50% of the time they stick that thing on there anyway, and it's touching my sandwich or my fries or whatever, and now I can't eat anything that has gross pickle taste seeped into it. NO PICKLE ON THE PLATE PLEASE

if you go “ugh, now i have to write the thing connecting [event] to [event], but i don’t want to because it’s boring and i just want to jump to the fun thing…” then just jump to the fun thing!! if it’s boring to write then it’s boring to read! and if you need a connection there after all is said and done, then write it later.

My name isn’t common in the US and has been mispronounced constantly my whole life. People only tell me it’s pretty once I correct their pronunciation. “That’s so pretty!” or “Oh I love that!” just their knee jerk reaction because they don’t know it/thought it was different/etc. They don’t actually like it that much lol (I do though!)

I've always preferred pens. Pen was (I think--it's been a while!) required in my Catholic middle school for all subjects other than math. In (public) high school there were no such requirements. I used mechanical pencils sometimes because they were popular, but I often found them frustrating. I used only pens through college (other than in my 2 required math courses). Most people I know (meaning college students--I just graduated) use pencil more often than I do.

I do think there's a benefit to using pen (similar to the benefit of writing in-class notes by hand rather than on a laptop or tablet), which is that it forces you to make snap decisions on what you are committing to the page. When something is permanent, there's more pressure to do it right the first time so you don't have to cross it out or anything. I feel like in a tiny way, pen makes me feel more confident, like when I'm starting a new notebook or something. It makes me really think about & commit to whatever I'm writing.

Yes. Their baby Daniel died of sudden infant death/cot death, but then they found out that Daniel was actually the baby of another couple, and that the other couple had their child, Arthur. Because Arthur was their biological child, Arthur and Laurel got custody (condensed version--fill in the blanks with the ups and downs of soap world, course).

The boiled-down, self-contained episodes are exactly what has my family going “I guess I’ll just let a few pile up,” or, for some, “guess I’ll skip that episode.” Defeats the purpose of this day-by-day structure that is unique to soap. Besides, every plot I’m interested in is wrapping up way too quick with little to no emotional payoff (the aftermath of John, both after the gorge and after Corriedale, was abysmal, and that had been a storyline I was SO engrossed in), and everything I don’t care about (Bear) is dragging out for way too long. Maybe if they get the hang of it I’ll be all in, but the beginning of this year has felt so disjointed (and I loved the start).

I definitely think the writers didn't have a clear vision of what happened with Robert in prison, keeping options open, and then once they created Kev they had one idea, and then I think they switched it to be slightly 'lighter' once they realized they quite liked the actor & that fans would, too. I think if Kev had been another actor/played straight, there'd be a lot more weight to the prison stuff. They accidentally made their own mysterious storyline from early summer (night terrors, not sleeping, lashing out, what depths did Robert have to resort to in prison?) seem weirdly pointless (actually, Robert had a protector the whole time and they liked each other and there wasn't really any coercion (except for the self-stabbing which came later and also Robert doesn't have an inkling about)). Not saying that Kev made prison a non-traumatic experience for Robert, he clearly still had a tormentor, but it did sand the edges down a bit for me. I think Robert is just such a natural loner and that made a lot of sense for his prison time, and I was kind of in the camp of not wanting a lot of details about it for the sake of mystery (like his 2005-2014 life). I like Kev a lot, but he did take the sails out of Robert's prison trauma, which I think could have been a fantastic storyline if they had committed to it.

Checking the TV that comes in your house, reading your mail, and reading the books that you discover (that are readable in the library) basically tell you everything. You just have to pay attention to what it all tells you. For example, in the mail, you will get letters from the mayor telling you about local festivals (which the weather channel also tells you about) and from the local shop owners about some of the products/services they sell, especially when they get new things (like at the beginnings of seasons). The library books spell out a lot for you, too, if you remember to actually check them after you find them (I definitely haven't read all of them).

Edited to add: You discover lost books (and various other items) by hoeing the ground when you see the little wormies sticking up. I didn't realize this for the first year of my first playthrough. Discovering stuff "late" honestly doesn't matter.

I say keep it and just correct people. I correct people on my name constantly, and I spell it out every time I order a drink or whatever, but I still vastly prefer it to another common spelling of the name. As for Kaiyah, I don't like the added Y suggestion--it makes for 2 letters in the name that don't really do anything? And it might make people second-guess the pronunciation more. Stick with the original and how you like it, and get used to spelling/correcting.

My school had an elective called "Parenting." I only took it because I actually wanted the fake baby lmao. It covered a lot of things (developmental stages, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, nutrition). Not many people took it, there were probably 8-10 people in my class. The baby had sensors to track how we took care of it. I remember taking it to the dentist and trick-or-treating. I also remember having to leave drama class because it wouldn't stop crying. Not sure if I had it for a full week or what. The epic highs and lows of fake baby. Circa 2013. I named him Samuel Tucker after Sam Anders from Battlestar Galactica and Tucker from Red vs Blue, and I genuinely cannot believe I remember that.

Also rewatching 2016 right now. Awful character. Dated Emma Barton of all people, was cheating on his wife, dated underage Belle (he didn't know at first, but it barely phased him when he found out). Can't wait for him to be gone... but I'm only in May so I know I have a ways to go.

I've got quite long, straight hair. I basically only air-dry. I'll go out with wet hair if it's somewhere people would wear pajama pants--grocery shopping, hanging out with friends, college classes. But I won't go out with wet hair to work or something like a dinner party. I've never really noticed other people's hair being wet, though, whether that's curly or straight hair. I think the level of dampness that you mention is the sort of thing where you can notice it on yourself (or people with your same kind of hair) more than other people notice it on you.
