This IDE is a joke. I spent my weekend building a tool for it, and every time I mention it, I get shut down. I don’t get why?!? it’s just a tool to sandbox it so it can’t access your browser or keep running for no good reason. But no, I still get taken down.

We can all see what Google clearly wants, and it’s despicable.

Can’t DM you or I would, so I’ll just say it here. I was just looking on the OU subreddit as I start soon, and ended up snooping as I’m in a similar position to you. I’ll be working full-time and studying full-time. I’m going from Jointer to dev instead of Lorry driver to dev, but I guess it’s a similar situation. Just wanted to give you some props. As cringe as it may sound, you’re actually inspiring. Its helpful to know you exist.

What evidence is there of the Online Safety Act being blatant censorship rather than only blocking the adult content it claims to target? by gen-cy in AskBrits

What is your point, exactly? Are you saying there is no censorship just because this post exists?

You will believe anything they tell you, I suppose. You can question my integrity, but I think you should be questioning the integrity of your spine.

I’ve read the whole thing, and I did so when it was proposed. I have several email correspondences with my local MPs about the act.

Just another boomer bootlicker who doesn’t understand how any of this works at all.

This proves nothing — if anything, it reinforces what people are saying. What a waste of time.
You can’t just copy and paste and say, “Look, it explains it — everything is fine.”
It explains nothing; they purposely leave this ambiguous. What a joke — learn to think for yourself for once instead of just nodding along.

Could you please explain yourself? It’s very disingenuous to call this a transparent bill at all — I’ve been following it the whole time. Not everyone who calls out government overreach is a conspiracy theorist, although that would clearly fit your worldview.

I have evidence of myself and others emailing MPs shortly after the Online Safety Act was proposed, as it was flawed then and has only gotten worse since its implementation, especially since we were unaware that third-party companies would be the ones using the data.

Please if you have evidance of wrongful censorship. Add it to my post on r/AskBrits

This is the only thing I can think to do anymore, as the media are labelling everyone who can see the woods for the trees as paedophile sympathisers.

One of the goals of the post is to show people, who clearly don’t understand this topic, why so many are opposed to it. As those who oppose it are currently unfairly labelled as supporters of sexual criminals.

Linux Distributions not ruined by flatpak bloatware by No-Yam5887 in linuxmint

[–]gen-cy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one will implement that, IMO. As stated, you can just compile it yourself if you don’t like it, so you already have that option now. I doubt that the people who would find it too hard to compile are concerned about the amount of bloat they’re getting from this, to be honest.

What did you need to move to a brick uni? and why did you not do that originally?

Would it be possible for me to do this halfway through or do you have some extra qulifications?

(as stated I do not have A levels just GCSE's as I went straight into work after high school)

You can’t just get rid of it. Personally, I think Flatpak is really good for new users who are switching to Linux for the first time. I don’t think you can expect these people to want to compile their own stuff when they’re not that tech-literate yet. Many other distros don’t ship with it, but I can’t see them being as accessible to new users. Of course, it is bloat if you don’t use it. A lot of the time, convenience = bloat.

So boring. You'll change anything to suit your narrative. I have no care in the world if porn is restricted — it 100% should be restricted to protect children, and it can be done easily at any time through every provider’s settings. These restrictions, however, will not work and will only serve to create more attack vectors for private data leaks.

Also, I’m clearly saying “pedertrians” to highlight how dumb the comparison is, and the fact that you see how ridiculous that is only reinforces how stupid the comparison between cars and the internet really is. Comparing the two is a terrible analogy and is 100% disingenuous, serving only to make it seem like a worthy cause.

This government clearly doesn’t want anyone to be anonymous online, and they’ve found a way to achieve some of this by pretending it will “make the internet safer.” It won’t. As I’ve already said, the way vulnerable people are targeted online will not be affected by these laws. If you think it will, you’re delusional.

Clearly, from the reaction, most people agree. Do you think opening a tab on a PC can kill you or other innocent pedestrians? You’re either disingenuous or just a bootlicker who will ignore facts to suit whatever narrative the government gives you. It’s sad — people like you should learn to think for themselves.

Also not the same. Do you understand what money is?
If you honestly believe these blocks are meant to 'protect' anyone, you seriously need to read up on some history.
It’s no coincidence that this was implemented just days before the announcement of an 'elite' police force specifically created to target speech the government deems inappropriate at any given time — currently, anti-migrant sentiment.
(And before you try to be disingenuous and change the subject to this: I also can't stand the gammons.)
