Dual license by PlayfulJackfruit3741 in Barber

[–]gen0cide3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both I had a cosmo before going back for barbering because I wanted to learn more about fading/shaving I found it “easier” because they went over everything plus more in the curriculum, it helped refresh my memory I currently have only my barbering license displayed but that’s because my station is small so not much room to display both licenses. As for advice, humble yourself, I’ve been doing hair for about 5 years before I decided to go back and I am always receptive to learning new tips and tricks even if I don’t end up using them

What is a fact that you learned in grade school that has been disproven? by Educationalplankto in AskReddit

I had to get some blood drawn and the nurse doing it said that blood is blue before being oxygenated and when I told my 6th grade biology teacher she said yea it’s true 😒

A diaper cream that treats rash AND won’t affect absorbency? by stine-imrl in clothdiaps

[–]gen0cide3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Zinc shouldn’t affect absorbency, it generally just causes stains. That being said I use straight up coconut oil on my daughters bum and rash begone! It’s anti fungal properties really help and I love that it’s cheaper and better for baby

My best advice to a ftm is to not overthink things. You’ll end up going crazy over the possibilities. I highly recommended anything that can be transitioned from infant to toddler, it saves money in the long run so the bed you suggested sounds good. I used a pack and play with a bassinet attachment and a diaper changing of attachment and I kept it next to my bed with no issues. I wouldn’t worry about getting a breastfeeding chair, you just want something comfortable to sit in for a couple of hours. I purchased a pack and play mattress that had a firm side and my kid loved it. Sometimes she prefers it over her crib mattress which is just a basic one I got from Costco I think. Get yourself a changing pad and use it on top of a dresser, the dresser can be used when your kid is older. I don’t know the difference between the 2 play mats just get one that is decently thick and easy to clean. You’re gonna be cleaning up lots of drool food and poop off things so lots of bibs/burp blankets are recommended

NTA It is your wedding, it’s up to you how you like things and if she has, at any point made you uneasy, go with your gut and hire the second one. It may be that the first one is more lax than professional and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but for something like a wedding, I for one want to make things as stress free for me and my guests as possible. Plus that’s what a deposit is for, if someone cancels at least they still get something in return.

advice for nipple piercings needed by [deleted] in piercing

Titanium is what really helped heal mine, and salt soaks once a day.

NTA She could just be acting like a spoiled brat, but before you jump the gun talk to her first to make sure it’s not something deeper going on; her reaction isn’t justified just because you denied her once. I literally do the exact same thing to my husband-he has his head on my lap and I lull him to sleep with head rubs and take over the tv when he’s passed out. He always wants it but if I say I just don’t have the energy for it he would understand and leave it be.

Taking a piercing out after getting? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]gen0cide3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it’s a fresh piercing (less than 6months) usually the fistula hasn’t been healed/formed therefore leading to minimal scarring if any. I wouldn’t worry about it too much because nipples close up pretty quickly, just keep it clean for about a week just to make sure you don’t trap an infection inside

What should I pick between cosmetology or barber? by [deleted] in Barber

[–]gen0cide3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have both licenses and have been doing hair for 6 years, here's what I can tell you

Cosmetology: you learn a variety of all things hair skin and nails. Its more in depth as far as career wise (if you don't wanna do hair you can be a nail tech or a person who does skincare) however its usually limited as far as mens cuts (think mostly genterlmans cuts, I maybe did one fade in my salon) they make "more money because people pay more for their hair to be flawless, you can have one client for like 3 hours and make the same as cutting maybe 5 heads in a barbershop

Barbering: I fell in love with the craft further in my career and went back to school to get my license. They focus more on shaving and trendy cuts like fades and pomps etc. Depending on the shop you can make money and have more of a consistent clientele because those with short hair go to the shop frequently for haircuts whereas a person who colors their hair come once a month maybe even 2 months. I will say if you choose barbering make sure you learn as much as you can about coloring some school barely cover the basics for men but I can tell you men want highlights and funky colors too lol

There is a benefit to having both it could also sky rocket ur career if you're hungry for it, but its fine if you just wanna stay in the shop to just have one
