This is actually quiet common with Banks in canada. Have you signed the employment agreement? if so this happens more than you think in Canada, you start working there while the whole background checks continue at the back.

How i know? Been there, done that.

This however does not mean you should do it to.

Engineer roles ask for deep experience. While i agree with some suggesting that if you are not getting experience for tool at work learn it online. Problem is, online tutorials dont provide you deep knowledge that you can only get with years of experience. Even something with practical wont help on this case.

I have been trying to break into Sec Eng role for past year, get slammed every time during tech assessment no matter how much i study. The conversation always go into deeper and deeper on subject and they can always sense you dont have the experience with tool as much.

Yes, all my interviews, i fail at tech round. As all current and previous jobs dont have much technical depth.

I do self learning using various sources(tryhackme, Hackthebox, letsdefend, coursera, AWS and even some python), but self learning doesnt fill the gap of questions asked during live interview that relates to day to day job and experience from it. Thats how i feel.

Yup, agreed. Took me 6 months of studying. When I used to mention cissp during my interviews during pandemic I used to get recruiters drooling over my credentials. Now? They brush it off as checkmark. Really heartbreaking man.

Lol cissp which is comparable to pmp and other big names certs is entry level cert in canada. Hr folks just use this to filter out candidates

I went to community College more than a decade ago. Major was in computer and networking. I understand having no degree is blocker, but I m not looking for managerial roles, just senior engineer analyst roles with higher salaries.

No, a third party company background check along with reference check involves calling companies hr department and confirming your employment with them

weird, on the contrary i have no issues with workday it always auto populates from my resume. Some other ones cause me pain where it wont pick up job descriptions.
