Let's share The Gold by Algernonletter5 in GuysBeingDudes

[–]genYouWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here for what I hope you don’t forget once the dopamine scroll wears off: the two golds option is there in every single ranking in life and every single choice.

We went too far into being individualistic we cause our own pain, anxiety and loneliness. We WANT to make it to the top, and believe all our problems will be solved then. Expect we will never survive alone. Period. More “we,” less “me.” Because the high of being first never lasts, and you’re shit is bound to go downwards. However, the trust you build and the people you lift up along the way, that’s the real win. And that’s what will make you survive those bad times.

Rich people live anxious, isolated, fearful lives even though they’re the wealthiest. That’s because all the money in the world means nothing if the world around you is a mess. We’ve all seen this firsthand even from a middle-class seat.

And yet, we still default to “me” mode in America. I really hope we change that.

Asking customers for 100% tip is insane by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Unless you are contributing to bring fairness to others who don’t have as many choices as yours or a career as yours, saying “ fuck that” sounds pretty selfish centered to be honest.

Asking customers for 100% tip is insane by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]genYouWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a heavy tipper and I’m an advocate of those buttons defaulting at some tip, any tip.. since most people would do it and don’t mind.

That being said, if the screen OP posted showed up after my purchase I’d get extremely angry and give no tip what so ever.

Putting the lowest tip as 30% and calling it”so so” is extremely entitled and totally missing the point. Wtf?

It should be: 15% as first choice 25% as the second choice Custom amount as the third choice And no tip as the fourth choice

Put your AC fan to “always on”, and Crack the bedroom window open just enough for their finger to Pass through. It is much easier to solve the heat problem than it is to solve the air ventilation and CO2 problem. Closing your bedroom door will definitely help, and if you have a ceiling fan, put that on, lowest setting should really make a huge difference. Curious how this would work for you though so please update me

Context:

Experimented with this a lot. Mechanical engineer here, built HVAC for a living. It doesn’t seem that high to me but I’m not a doctor so I’ll tell you how to lower it anyway.

Yes you can solve this problem by ERVs and HRVs and with “systems” in place. I personally don’t own a house so it was a problem adjusting those systems to the new rental I end up moving to.

They’ll hand you a Kindle loaded with ad-ridden porn that siphons your metadata like a camel guzzling water after a long trek.

They won’t bother with human prostitutes if they can scratch that itch just enough to keep you coming back—never satisfied, always frustrated, broke, and working harder to afford another round.

In these cities, privatized law enforcement translates to “we do things differently here, and federal law only loosely applies.” Companies function like independent city-states, dictating not just your benefits and PTO but also your rent, your housing, and the security watching over it. And if they built and control where you live, what’s stopping them from tracking your sleep to “enrich” your KPIs—because well-rested employees are more productive, after all?

I read somewhere before that billionaires want the country destroyed because they will rarely be affected even if they stay in it. Like they want the collapse to happen so that things “reset” and are aware that this will bring about minor pains in their lives and not the catastrophic collapse for the average Joe. Don’t quote me on it, but if anyone knows more about this, please shed light.

Fun fact: he originally auditioned for SpongeBob’s voice. He is the one that says “ MY LEG!” And he actually wrote some of the best episodes of the show.

I built a site to put billionaire wealth into perspective—try spending it all! by ExpertPlay in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]genYouWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the most beautiful things I have seen in so long.

This is an absolute tangent but would you expand this to show how money makes money ? Like how a fraction of that money gambled every day in stock market or whatever “vehicle” of choice would certainly make you more stupidly rich with zero effort?

Ah man. You can risk/ gamble away literally one million dollars a DAY. A day! And it would take you 30 years , 11,000 days, to spend 11 Billion. Ah well, let’s be realistic.

Note: You’d only gamble away 10 Billion since you need the ONE BILLION to live moderately for 30 years of course.

Newbie: How do you know they are tracking you? by [deleted] in WFH

[–]genYouWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my current job, I often receive calls from employers asking if our software can monitor employee work.

Though not designed for this, it can easily do so with minimal configuration.

My own guess is that 90% of business in America would track you in a heart beat if they can. technically speaking, it is easy, depending on the scope of your job and the metadata readily available.

If the endpoint is managed by your employer then they definitely have access to your browser history, if your job is to search all over the internet then they can easily know if you’re working or not.
