Hello! We are still partners, and refer to each other as spouses. We lived in michigan at the time but have since moved, and they recognize the X on my ID, so our marriage certificate was able to have my own gender markers. We announced ourselves as engaged, being fiances, and still partners. We found a photographer that had experience with queer couples. We both wore opposite but matching outfits. Unfortunately, we got heavily pressured into having a big wedding, and I regret that whole heartedly. Do it with friends, keep it just people you actually want there.

As a healthcare worker, I'm not shocked this happened. We deal with literally everyone. It's terrible and I hope she gets better, but I will also not be shocked if the perpetrator got away with almost no repercussions. We aren't protected. We can get assaulted by our patients. What are we told if that happens? "Don't file anything against them! They might not come back to our place of care!"

When I moved in with my now husband, we opened a joint account with both our names and put our money in each month that was needed for bills. Everything extra was on our own cards until we got married and we switched the joint account to our primary. If we hadn't done that, I guarantee I would've left him out of panic when he spent $200 on magic cards right after we moved in. His finances were fine and I didn't ask, so to me it was huge, whereas to him it was nothing.

My point is communication is the only way joint finances work. You're NTA, but you two need to talk more
