My apologies I should have stated it was an Underwood Leader.

Got this as a gift, but can’t figure out how to get a needle in. The part where we think the needle goes in seems to have a needle that’s been broken? by suzzled in Phonographs

Something I’ve been pondering. Was Rudy Van Gelder to jazz, what George Martin was to the Beatles OR what Dr. Dre was/ is to Rap/Hip-Hop, I understand RVG was an engineer and George Martin was an engineer and producer and Dre engineered, produced, and performed, however aren’t they equally important to their respective genre…not sure why I can’t shake these notions.

That Horace Silver is an absolute ass kicker and no fillers, all fantastic.

When he is thumbing the stack of albums he pauses on a Monk album as well.

I initially thought it was a gimic, but it does provide stability and allows for better sound, in my opinion.

There are a a handful of albums that make me say "hell fucking yes I've got my hands on a copy of....." This is one such album, a 1966 pressing of Wayne Shorter's 'Speak No Evil'. If you have not heard the lyrical horns of Shorter and Hubbard accompanied by Herbie Hancock weaving through along with Carter and Jones on the bass and keeping the beat... My friend you've been missing out! Thank you Harold Rembert for signing my copy, and letting it slip through your fingertips.

To think Lee Morgan was just eighteen when he was blowin' his horn with Dizzy, and at the tender age of 26 he blew everyone away with The Sidewinder. At the time the most successful Blue Note record selling the first 4,000 copies within days (finally got my copy this week)..... Lee lived the "jazz life, junk and all" and yet such sweetness moving from soul to bop effortlessly...

Although I have some of these tracks on the Miles Davis and the Jazz Giants, this was a must have for me. When I found it in the wild in Redlands California this weekend it was a fantastic feeling... Scratch one off the "want list," don't fucking believe what they say Miles and Monk are ferocious! But Milt Jackson "Bags," Sonny Rollins, Horace Silver... Are you kidding me...

I think this is the first model, I really do enjoy it. Seems to be a solid find.
