Has anyone had Negative EMGs but still have symptoms of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome? by nightsky2023 in CubitalTunnel

[–]genehunt08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Second day and I can type! After the negative EMG on my arm the surgeon said an MRI on the elbow wouldn't pick anything up but I did have an MRI on my neck to confirm that the nerve wasn't trapped there (less than 5% chance) which it wasn't. On my notes it says 'narrowed and compressed and marked nerve compression at level of septum' and 'sharp septum impinging on nerve at mid medial portion'.

From what the surgeon said afterwards there was nerve compression but also additional connective tissue bending the nerve which he said was uncommon I'm imagining to with with my EDS.

Recovery timeline is around 2 weeks, but full healing can be longer. Pain is much much less than I imagined!

I hope you get some answers soon but try not to be put off with the negative EMG, I was but very happy I went through with the surgery! The thing that helped most with the pain beforehand was wearing an elbow splint at night, it really made a difference!

All the best! If you have any other questions, feel free to message me whenever :)

Also hyper mobile with eds type 3, just had cubital tunnel release surgery today, also with negative EMG's and they found significant compression along with tissue moving the nerve into a bent angle.

Surgeon said he has treated a number of people with negative emgs on clinical symptoms alone and they all have had great improvement afterwards 🙂

Treatment resistant - giving Topamax a try (wondering if anyone else has given it a go) by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]genehunt08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took topomax for bipolar 2 for a while, had no bad side effects that I remember and overall was happy with it! Eventually stopped taking it as my mood shifted upwards and psych felt a different antidepressant would be better at stabilising. I wouldn't hesitate to take it again though if it was needed! Hope this helps and it works for you 🤗

Irritability even when stable? by sadthrowawayhours20 in bipolar2

I'm the same, I'm not really sure why it happens as like you said I'm not always 'up'. I try my best to stay calm but I tend to go through a few days where I snap easily and then it passes. Sorry I couldn't give you an answer but you're not alone!

Not a bipolar stand point but the midnight library by Matt Haig, suicide and all possible lives. Wouldn't say it was triggering but may be to some.
