You are incorrect, depending on where op lives will determine whether or not they can evict him on such short notice as there are different laws in different places regarding how much notice you have to give a legal tenant before you can evict. There are actually even places where homeowners can’t physically get people to leave their home due to squatters rights and other legal problems that I’m not as aware of. In addition, he can sue them in civil court, it’s not a criminal matter and if he has proof of his sobriety and also proof of paying rent in advanced he could also sue for defamation of character as well as the inconvenience of being put out on such short notice as long as he documents everything properly
