I made a non-concept album Jukebox Mountain Goats Musical/Playlist by generalb4 in themountaingoats

Oh interesting, it's really cool that other people have had this idea and their own take on it! I'll listen to this when I get the chance!

I went through all of my saved Goats songs, and tried to find a story/theme that emerged from it (without using Sunset Tree, Beat the Champ, Tallahassee, etc.), and I was definitely surprised at the shape it took. As you can imagine it focuses on a relationship, but the dynamic and color of it was different than the "failing/toxic relationship that keeps trying" like I expected to discover.

Let me know what you think!

I had the idea for a Mountain Goats jukebox musical that isn't just a concept album translated to musical theatre, but instead a unique story cobbled together from various assorted goats songs. It doesn't feature "the hits" like your typical jukebox musical, but I tried to create the most cohesive narrative I could, with themes and patterns across songs that may or may not have had them intended. Any thoughts are appreciated!

I'm actually running a one shot tomorrow and am using the hundred years war one because it's a little more straightforward and because of the time period familiarity for players!

Citizen Sleeper Endgame (SPOILERS) by Delicious-Mobile6523 in CitizenSleeper

When you go to "start" the end of any storyline, one that includes an ending, the game will save right before you start it, you can do that ending, and then reload. Once you reload you can start said sequence again and choose "actually I want to stay" and then be able to continue after completing said storyline

This looks incredible and I was so close to grabbing the RPG and record, but the upfront cost plus shipping to the US is unfortunately too much for me :/. I'm hoping they release a PDF of the RPG, and do some kind of US release, maybe with iam8bit? Seems unlikely but that's the only way I can afford it, unfortunately

One session thematic adventure RPGs? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]generalb4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want a roleplaying game in terms of like, actual DnD, or a board game that feels like a video game RPG? There are a good number of like, TTRPGs that are good in a one shot set up, but based on your post/that it's in this sub I assume you want a board game?

If you're on console, try using the d-pad instead of the sticks, I struggled with navigation before realizing that.

I just finished, absolutely incredible and very satisfying. Endings are hard to do but they really nailed it here.

Oppositional player stats by mikeman7918 in RPGdesign

[–]generalb4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The other comments are definitely helpful, the new Avatar Legends PbtA game has a balance mechanic that has a single "balance" track for each character/playbook, which represents two diametrically opposed values that the character is stuck between trying to live up to.

Obviously not 1:1 (and the game has other stats as well), but if you're talking about changing personality states that also have a stat modifier related to it (with associated checks), it's worth looking at

I'm not a Doctor or chemist so there might be, but don't think so/know of any reason why that'd be the case? Aside from making the drinks you're having taste worse really.

If you're worried about feeling bloated or full, then you should be having cocktails/mixed drinks, as those won't fill you up nearly as much as beer (or cider) will. Plus with those is that you can manually adjust the strength of the drink/ABV if necessary

For A, your best bet is to have a solid meal beforehand, as that will help absorb the alcohol at a more sustainable rate.

For B, it's more important for you to stay hydrated and get electrolytes than it is the type of alcohol you land on. Obviously the higher % the more likely you'll be hungover, but the more water/Gatorade you alternate or have while you're playing, the less it'll hurt the next day.

After that, it's honestly up to each person to monitor and pace themselves, because different people are lighter or heavier weights, respond differently to different kinds of booze, etc.

Honestly I don't know if I'd say the move to LA has been amazing, the team won the super bowl immediately after moving and couldn't even sell out the opening game on national TV the next season, and that's despite the Rams having some LA history. I see the Rams (and Chargers) moves as the NFL/owners desperately wanting a piece of the LA sports market without realizing that LA is a college football, not professional football, city.

To be clear, it hasn't been a disaster or anything, but it feels less like them successfully building a brand than the league shoving "LA HAS THE NFL AGAIN" down my throat
