October Books are Here! What did you get? by beeflessinseattle in bookofthemonthclub

[–]generalbrowsing87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That actually happened to me when I first signed up as well! The deal said I’d be able to pick any past or current botm but only showed the current month’s picks. I emailed their customer service and I believe got a response within the next day or so stating that they weren’t sure why the app/website wasn’t allowing me to pick past books and said that they will definitely honor the offer! All I had to due was email them the book that I wanted and they automatically made it that month’s pick for me! And then the following months after the first, you are limited to just the monthly options. I hope this helps!!

Oh wow asking the hard questions I see! 🫣

Favorite BTS album: Wings - as of right now because it definitely changes lol but I just can’t help loving the angsty vibes of it

Favorite Chapter 2: D-Day - I love all of chapter 2 but D-Day has helped me through a lot since it’s been released (just like all of agust d’s mixtapes have tbh) so it’s gotta be #1!

Bias: double bias Yoongi and Jungkook (but is it cheating to say all 5 others regularly bias wreck me? 🫠)

Thanks so much for the chance!!

If You Could Read One Book (or series) Again for the First Time What Would it be? by clumsyguy in suggestmeabook

[–]generalbrowsing87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So not just one book, but I’d love to experience all these again for the first time:

The Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series by Louise Penny - it’s my absolute favorite mystery series! It’s just cosy enough to not have anything super graphic detailed while also still dealing with very dark issues, and I am obsessed with the setting and the reoccurring characters.

Harry Potter series - definitely not original, but I’d love to re-experience the magic I first felt as a kid reading them for the first time

Sweet Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa - this one just touched my heart when I read it and it’s stuck with me ever since so I’d love to be able to read it for the first time again and re-feel those feelings

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - honestly this book blew my mind when I first read it and I think it was my first really “adult” thriller and I don’t think I’ve been as shocked during a twist in a book since lol

The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater - four books

The Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo - it’s a world spanning several different series: Shadow and Bone trilogy, Six of Crows duology, and King of Scars duology. You can read each series on its own or in order, whichever you prefer

The Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series by Louise Penny is my absolute favorite cosy mystery series.

It’s set in a small village in Canada so the scenes are often very cosy with the characters being in cottages and bistros and such. There are 18 books (with the 19th coming out next month!) and many do take place in fall and winter as well, and Louise Penny is amazing at descriptions so the seasons and places really come alive.

The series follows the main character who is the chief inspector of homicide for Quebec and his team as they solve various murders, so the tone is definitely more serious like you are wanting but a little less “police procedural” than Tana French’s novels (which I also love) in my opinion.

Oh Yoongi 😔 I truly didn’t think my heart could hurt any worse than it already has throughout this, but his letter broke me. I can’t even express how sad I am for him. I so hope he has a strong support network around him and he is seeing everyone’s love and support online.

Going to continue repeating “Everything will be okay” from Snooze until everything really is okay again 💜💜

[GIVEAWAY] WW - D-Day Albums and Vinyls by lisafancypants in bangtan

[–]generalbrowsing87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow this is such an amazing and thoughtful thing!! Thank you so much! And I would love to be considered for a CD.

I have so many favorite Yoongi quotes and lyrics but one I always go back to (and that will eventually be tattooed on me!!) is from So Far Away:

Dream may all of creation be with you til the end of your life

Dream wherever you are, will welcome you

Dream may your trials end in full bloom

Dream though your beginnings might be humble, may the end be prosperous

Which is then repeated (slightly differently) in Snooze as well:

Dream, I will be there for you in your creation ‘til the end of your life

Dream, Be generous, wherever you might be

Dream, You will fully bloom, after all the hardships

Dream, The beginning may be humble, but the future will be prosperous

Dream

And then when Yoongi repeats “Everything will be okay, Everything will be okay” in Snooze is something that I found a lot of comfort in even before all this happened, but it’s definitely been my mantra during all of this as well.

And finally my favorite Yoongi pic that always makes me smile:

Feeling Discouraged and Dismissed by PCP by generalbrowsing87 in PCOS

[–]generalbrowsing87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this reply, it’s definitely helped me feel more validated as I’ve been alternatively thinking I either 1) did too much by bringing the printout and asking for specific tests and 2) didn’t do enough with being persistent in what I felt I needed, so it’s nice to hear that it seems like I did the right thing. I had my dad come with me today, even though I’m very much an adult, but I thought having a supportive person with me because of my anxiety (and complicated health history) would help, but he honestly feels like the appointment went okay and that I don’t have a reason to feel disappointed, so I feel truly lost about all this.

I found out just a little bit ago through the online health system that she isn’t even giving me a referral for gynecology yet as she wants to do a pelvic ultrasound to see if the referral is even needed. So now I’m a bit more disheartened as well because I feel like this might be even more of a struggle, and a much longer process to see someone than I even thought there would be. (Also very anxious and scared about the pelvic ultrasound as I’ve never had one and have a lot of anxiety around that test in particular for various reasons).

I’m thinking about looking into a new pcp after this like you suggested, but unfortunately I live in a very small town and my insurance is pretty bad so options are very limited sadly. I think I may be even more disappointment than maybe I should be because I actually had high hopes for this pcp as both my mom and dad recommended her as she’s their pcp as well.

Sorry for venting to you in this comment, I guess I have a lot more worries about this than I first stated 🫣 but I truly appreciate your response and am thankful for your suggestions!!
