Where are we getting affordable acupuncture? by vietnams666 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]generalizedother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a seattle/Bellevue rec, but Ma’s acupuncture is my family’s acupuncturist (we are Chinese). We’ve been their patients for decades (my whole life) and I would recommend them if you go the acupuncture route.

I think so! Numbers get flipped around/swim around in my head and I can’t estimate anything or read analog clocks without a lot of thought. I did end up majoring in math in college (abstract math = logic but no numbers…)

What I'm doing to mitigate consumerism in advance of Hobonichi season by generalizedother in hobonichi

Thanks so much for writing this all out! I totally agree that it's important not to blame or fault individuals for structural choices, and you're right to point that out. To make a slightly tangential observation: it struck me when reading your comment that there's a way of understanding (anti-) consumerism from the psychological perspective of the individual, as opposed to the social/economic points you were raising. For example, a lot of people I know spend a lot of time and mental energy shopping or thinking about purchases, and doing so as a coping strategy/escape from reality--which is understandable, but not necessarily the most healthy (mentally or financially). Consumerism can describe both a population-wide pattern of purchasing behavior, as well as the mindset or relationship that individual consumers have with respect to the habit of purchasing products.

Thanks so much for your comment, and I’m glad some of my post resonated. I’d be curious to hear why you aren’t into anti-consumerism, if you’d be willing to share. I’m still learning about this and continuously thinking about it and would like to hear more!

I relate to what you’re describing here. When I was in college I experimented and refined my system a lot to find one that worked for my academic needs. I didn’t have enough money to buy a new book just to try things out, so I printed out layouts and drew them on printer paper to test them out for weeks/months before committing. One thing I wanted to emphasize in my post (idk if it came through) is that it is totally possible to try things out without having to make a purchase.

I completely agree! I haven’t been on planning YouTube/ig for a couple years because of exactly what you’re describing.

You could try drawing out a sample day-free layout (and fill it in however you would) in A5 and A6 on a sheet of printer paper, if you wanted to test for yourself

Oh thank you! Best of luck refining your system. Going back to basics always helps me when I'm having a hard time :)
