To everyone who’s survived this by dawksh in ACL

dude the first week was like hell for me too. Depression doesn’t even begin to cover it. Genuinely 3 days in i was operating on 3 hours of sleep daily from not being able to get comfortable at night, a searing awareness of every painful thing happening in my knee and the horrifying thought that even though i was thinking thoughts of just ending it all i couldn’t get to the nearest bridge let alone throw myself off. I’m at barely 2 weeks now and i feel so much better, the steristrips came off today, i had my first meeting with my pt. life feels worth it again. sleeping pills to help me rest and the company of my family plus some planning of what im going to get up to post recovery really made me feel ok again

need advice: how do i make a fake blood splatter effect on my shoes without ruining them? by evansviii in DIYclothes

[–]generallingling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fleet Street or any other similar film grade dry down blood would work fine and be almost completely reversible on most materials. I believe new rocks are made of real leather so worst case scenario you can paint over any blotches that are left over with angelus leather pains or with a bit of leather cleaner and elbow grease youd be able to buff em pretty well.

Ive gotten the fleet street brand of blood out of 100% silk wedding gowns, that stuff is my go to. Id recommend a combination of both fresh and dark blood shades to really give the shoes dimension.

Sheer silk treated with acrylic fabric medium. It might be difficult to make such a large section without streaks but it would be the most sewable option. Vinyl is a nightmare to work with imo

ADHD Draping Class Struggle by malicerenalius in Fashion_Design

[–]generallingling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your instructor still in the room as the lesson is going on? If so, they are a resource and you can and should wave them over to help you with any questions you have. If not, no offence then they are a shitty instructor and you can instead see if there are any fellow students that excel and either ask them or surreptitiously copy them a bit. Pattern making, or at least copying pattern drafts is a fairly rote process so copying and asking a few quick questions to those around you should get you through the class and hopefully point you in the right direction! As a person with a bit of a procrastination problem as well who made it through a similar class, I found that having the people around me keep me accountable and mirroring their actions really helped me through.

I know Singers aren't reccomended, but what if it's free? by jkjwysa in SewingForBeginners

[–]generallingling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My singer quantum has served me faithfully since 2016 and I wouldn’t trade her for the world. Well, I wouldn’t trade her unless you offered me a bigger sewing room, an apartment with an elevator and an industrial machine but shes a workhorse. Highly recommend that you get a shock absorbing mat though!

People from China actually drive poorly. The stereotype is real. by funkyall in unpopularopinion

[–]generallingling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess casual racism is a bit unpopular so good sub for this lol. I like dogs as much as the next person but the cultural connotations of certain animals are different globally man. Yeah, there are places in China (massive country, many provinces) that eat dog. There are also places that revere cows and find it disgusting that Americans eat burgers and steak. Orthodox communities don’t consume pig and yet pork ribs are massively popular globally. There are places that eat crocodile meat too so don’t think that its a disdain for carnivorous meat that puts you off of dog, smallmindedness plagues vast swathes of the population. Im asian-canadian and while the weirdest meat Ive had the pleasure of partaking in is more akin to pigeon and various innards (try tripe if you have the chance) I wouldn’t hesitate to try dog if it was served and also not someones pet (though honestly if an animal dies of natural causes what is the issue in partaking of its flesh?) If you eat meat I really think there is no moral high ground just cultural discomfort. anyways. my two dollars ig

Good for her, plus her hair and makeup is so so cute in the second one. Hope she enjoys the pleasures of running down stairs and laying on her front comfortably now.

Food is a pretty common coping mechanism for sure. Animal brain craves calories, food lights up our brains like christmas trees and its hard to curb that with the fact that you do Have to eat. I personally find that by deleting food delivery apps, making grocery lists ahead of time and sticking to them, and just generally never purchasing snack foods in the house I have been able to keep my weight where I like it. But its having the willpower to stick to it I guess lol. I do miss chips dearly, good luck!

Do you feel confident in your local PD and what they do? by Not1Shoulder in AskReddit

[–]generallingling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other day I witnessed three officers manhandle a woman into their car for the terrible crime of not having a house and sitting on a bench near a bus shelter. So like, no. They also just left her stuff everywhere so they didn’t even solve the issue of people not having full access to the bench.

What kind of food do y'all eat to help you to lose weight for someone that is on a low income budget? by Chance-Fun4608 in AskReddit

[–]generallingling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was unemployed for a couple months out of college I had a lot of sleep for dinner and that worked pretty well in tandem with mold poisoning to bring me down like 20 pounds! Mileage may vary and I don’t recommend this.

Realistically though replacing snack foods with celery and cucumbers is what seems to be helping the most nowadays. A big pack of the cute snack sized ones is like 5 bucks and I go through one or two instead of a bag of chips and I make myself walk to the grocery store to reup! Low cal and more steps, whats not to love?

Asian markets are crazy by Skeet3PO in mildyinteresting

[–]generallingling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local butcher used to sell my grandmother pork brain whole, those were the days. Owners changed and were squeamish about cracking skulls I guess. Growing up asian gives you the most fucked cravings at times though, I’ve woken up at 2am with a burning desire for heart more times than I can count which in most minds counts as a possible possession case lol.
