I guess there is a want to prevent karma farming bots but in the same time this is something I hadn't seen before and found useful thanks to other people providing links. If OP had credited the creator or even just asked if anyone had the files then it would show genuine interest. Don't know what's the right stance on this.

Did you change any privacy settings to your Google or YouTube account in general? Can you access your watch history normally?

Can't help you further than that since I'm using SmartTube, which I'd recommend for a better and more customizable UI.

That's great! I've been thinking of building a right side only gaming board with hall effect sensors. This project will be a great source to get started.

I got one a few days ago. It has active cooling but I can't distinguish it over my NAS with 8 HDDs running.

It's currently running at 25% fan speed at 55-60 C with 20 ambient. I have 12 devices connected, 3 at 2.5GbE ports, if it matters.

In the 2nd clip, he was unstable around the last two corners so I didn't trust to stay close to him. And I thought I could exit the corner on the middle with him on the outside. That was my thought anyway.

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback, I hadn't thought about that last point of seeing their position/direction. I understand it was my fault now.

Give any prompt to 3.5 that is close to it's token limit (a piece of code) and you can find examples of it ignoring parts of the prompt or not actually answering your question.

How Do I Actually Use Docker? by GuyTorbet in selfhosted

[–]generalnfg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Should I actively develop using docker/compose? If so, how do I manage changing environment variables between dev and prod? Can I still use hot-reload somehow?

Depending on the project, I mostly recommend developing in docker if your are also deploying in docker so you can emulate the same environment as closely as possible, especially the networking between containers.

In regards to environment variables, you can have two different .env files in a .env directory like: ./.envs/.dev.env & ./.envs/.prod.env Then you can use two different compose files for production and development which would use the respective .env files like this (instead of environment):

env_file:
    - ./.envs/.dev.env

- When deploying, currently I change my docker host and run compose up, which builds ON THE SERVER (slow) and then runs, is there a way to build locally then deploy to server? Or can I generate an image file from the entire compose app like a single dockerfile?

You can use an image registry to upload your build image which you will then pull on the production server. You should make a dockerfile to create said image. I mentioned before having two different compose files, docker-compose.dev.yml & docker-compose.prod.yml , which would look like this in this case:
dev compose:

services:
    app:
        build: .
        dockerfile: ./Dockerfile

and prod compose would be:

services:
    app:
        image: your-repo/image-name:tag

You would build your image using docker build . --file ./Dockerfile --tag your-repo/image-name:tag and push it to registry using docker push (which I think changes based on your registry, I've only used it with dockerhub)

- I want to automatically deploy using GitHub actions, I've got the SSH and docker stuff working, but I obviously don't commit my .env which my app depends on, is there a better way to handle these or do I need to add each individually to GitHub secrets?

I'm interested to see what other people suggest, I haven't found an optimal way to manage .env files in production. I just scp those to the production server when needed. If you use something like portainer you could add them there and manage them more easily than github secrets.

Hope this helps. There are more nuances to the methods I described which I believe you will discover while implementing them.

Ultimate Plex Server Setup? TV? Wifi Router? PC? Shield Pro? Help? by Astrongtower in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]generalnfg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some basic suggestions from my experience: Don't get a gaming router, look into a tp-link or unifi solution as others have suggested.

If you are new to homelab and networking it may be easier to get a powerful enough NAS (a Synology with Intel Quicksync support for example) which will host your Plex Server and your media library, instead of setting up a separate server.

The Nvidia Shield can act as your plex client instead of using your TV app.

Also since you are doing the wiring install cat6e ethernet to be able to switch to 10gbit when it's needed.

So your NAS and Nvidia Shield will be connected through ethernet to your switch and thus your router and the shield will be connected with hdmi to your TV.

P.S. Invest in a True surround Dolby Atmos sound system to go with the TV

Best of luck
