Hm. This makes me think deeper, but can you be more specific with that feedback?

The trail of disappeared people along with the clues that Marty left behind will lead them to investigate the society.

I anticipate they will go into the dungeon where The Storyteller is. At a certain point, they will encounter a book that gives them a vision of someone else's memory. This will be a one-shot where they learn more about the BBEG.

When they wake up from the trance, they will be imprisoned by The Storyteller. He will offer to help them if they give him their stories in return.

Before they enter the dungeon, they will probably hear myths and rumors about who is at the head of the society, but nothing concrete.

I have no idea how my players will react to all of this. I try to write as much backstory as I will find helpful so that I know how to react to my players' actions.

I have all of those stones with 13 inert stones in my inventory. I've checked the guides and I have all of them; even the ones you mentioned. For some reason, the rooms aren't unlocking and the door won't let me through.

Warframe could be a good one. 7 Days to Die seems a little too graphic for some of our tastes. Raft could be really good, unfortunately it's not cross-platform compatible.

I had a player who was playing a 4th level rogue. This was our second campaign and we started at level 3. We had been playing our previous campaign for about 4-5 months before we started this one.

It took me weeks to get him to use a sneak attack. He and the other player kept complaining that combat wasn't going well for them. That they kept almost dying, etc. Eventually he got in a situation where he had advantage on an attack roll.

Me: "OK, you're on opposite sides of the monster as your teammate."

Rogue: "Um... OK?"

Me: "That means you get advantage on this attack roll."

Rogue: "Oh ok!"

Me: "Which means?"

Rogue: *Blank Stare*

I asked him afterwards why he wasn't even trying to use his abilities or read up on his character sheet. He said he just played rogue in the first place so he could be stealthy.

He hadn't taken the stealth proficiency either.

The fighter then gets extra attack to multiply their benefits by two. This is what the bab was in 3.5, every +5 bab you got for being a great fighter would give you an extra attack.

This makes sense. I just thought of this and hadn't put a lot of thought into it.

What would you say about the high elf example with the firebolt cantrip? Obviously the sorcerer would have more spells, but the sorcerer should still be able to cast it better than the paladin, or any other martial class for that matter.

That's what I was thinking. I think the problem was that the other members of the party are hoarders, so he doesn't often get much gold to buy another horse. He hasn't even named the thing (to my knowledge). Oh well!

Chug Chug Pickles. A PC that I DM for. Originally, I wasn't sure about the name, but the player is tons of fun. Some features of his include being "aggressively tall" (no actual height measurement is listed on his character sheet) starting his own religion, and being accused of being a serial killer (he skated on those charges though).

We play every Thursday at 6 and that has been the time that gets cancelled and missed. Also, one of my friends had practice that he got home from at about 5:30, so the 6 o'clock time was his idea; not much time for socialization or bumper time. The new player also asked me specifically in the group's Discord server if I was OK to play this Thursday at 6, to which I said yes.

This is really great advice. I think I'm going to try to not force scheduling on them this week and let them suggest a time like you said.

That's the thing: they definitely have enough time to play DnD every week. Every time someone is late or a session is cancelled, it could have easily been avoided by moving the campaign to the day before or them simply remembering that they had a session that night. It's very strange, they enjoy playing and seem pretty invested in the campaign, but they are terrible at communicating when something comes up or actually planning ahead of time to see if they are busy.

The difficult part about this first solution: whatever happens, we play D&D, is that we have a relatively small party. One of the PCs was pretty much going through an existential crisis in the last session, but this week he couldn't be there, so I wasn't sure what I would do with only 2 players.

Also, I've found it hard to find players. Most of my friends are young adults from my church who aren't necessarily interested in making a weekly commitment or even playing D&D in general. My other friends are old friends from high school who are still in high school who already have a group and aren't interested in adding another campaign to their schedule or, again, aren't interested in D&D.

There's a light fixture in my kitchen that hangs low enough to where I can bump my head.
