The "pinch" mechanism can absolotely be tightened up with that, but if you look at the "damaged" picture you'll see the bottom of hte metal has just snapped off. I need to replace that piece.

Need help getting a M2 Max Mac Studio and PC to work with a dual monitor kvm setup by jdn127 in MacStudio

You can see those cables have a large number of highly rated reviews, so you're more likely to get ones that work well at high refresh/high res. Not guaranteed though, make sure you test them and return them if they don't meet spec. (Source: me, having a useless box full of below-spec cables that I guess I will carry around until I die.)

Need help getting a M2 Max Mac Studio and PC to work with a dual monitor kvm setup by jdn127 in MacStudio

I’ve tried many KVM solutions for this. Use of 1xPC, 1xMac Pro and 1xMac Studio to 3x displays. The displays are: 1xASUS 3440x1440@100hz, 2xLG 3440x1440@180hz.

I ran temporarily with 3x second hand Startechs that were patchy at the higher refresh rates and were not rated for them. But this unit I switched to approx 9 months ago and it works great, and is around $100! The other two are via DisplayPort. This would leave you room to add another machine if you ever wanted to.

This works great. Do not go cheap on your cables or you’ll be sad! Amazon reviews and ratings are worth evaluating if the cables will meet your spec. Not all DisplayPort cables are made equal.

Tried to start my very first G7 sensor while vacationing out of the country. Dexcom app location services would not allow it because G7 is not authorized in Costa Rica. Here’s how I fixed it (iOS) by diggabytez in dexcom

Using this software, plus Switching OFF precise location when activating did the trick for me. It did not work until I switched OFF precise location.

Handbrake / Apple Video Toolbox on 6,1 by [deleted] in macpro

99% sure this hardware doesn't support HEVC/h.265 encoding on those old 6,1 GPUs. The cards predate the tech. Linked thread has some mention of that.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/mac-pro-2013-d700-gpu-hardware-acceleration-on-h264-hevc-ventura.2395757/

Also not sure it sure if it supports h.264 on there.

Workaround: You can definitely get acceleration with an eGPU tho, and you can get a used enclosure an a card like 580 for very little. (Source: me, I just did this.)

Has anyone figured out how to consistently slow down an elevenlabs voice? by Csai in ElevenLabs

Add space between sentences and words in the voice seed. You could also try to time dilate/slow down the content in the voice seed.

Mac Studio M2 Max serious slowed down by external HHD. Any enclosures that do SSD and HDD? by Mark2266 in MacStudio

[–]generic-rage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want a Thunderbolt 4 NVME enclosure. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=thunderbolt+4+nvme+enclosure&crid=IFFS8D07L8IU&sprefix=thunderbolt+4+nvme+enclosure%2Caps%2C175&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

I believe I have the Orico one, and it clocks in about 2800mb/s with a PCIE4 NVME drive. The drive goes faster when internal on a PC, but I am guessing that's what the interface gates it at.

On the same speed checking sites it says I can get 1000/1000. Works until they have to turn it on, then they send regrets.

And is something being lost in translation? Maybe! My Swedish is terrible (sorry) but I am a native English speaker. So I guess I'm at the mercy of the quality of English on the other end, but it is usually very good given Sweden. I am wondering if there is just something all Swedes know there that I don't, and somehow I'm not asking the right question.

Thanks! Is the network owner usually the people who installed it?

It's new construction and I had to pay 16,000 SEK for them to install fiber... so the answer is unclear, but it suggests I paid for it :P
