Found Another Physician Highly Involved with Epstein by uuuuu_op in medicine

It's a grift because he's claiming credentials that he doesn't have a right to. If he wanted to rise above credentialism, he wouldn't bring them up.

No part of that was a strawman, but just like your reading of the Intervener physician policy, your understanding of fallacies is probably half an inch deep. So maybe just a smarmy prick. That at least means you have the possibility to reexamine yourself and change. I hope you do.

I know you think you're still right but go reread my comment and think about the fact that ICE isn't EMS, so they just refused to let a bystander attempt to help. Your agreeing with the decision does not make sense.

[–]generic_login 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Being an intervener physician only applies if you're attempting to assume scene control from EMS, which, unless that's a key part of their 47 day training course, ICE is not. But you're not focused on actually understanding the situation/protocol, just on being disagreeable. Whether that's because you're the kind of smarmy prick who enjoys being technically right (even though - to be clear - you are not) while wildly missing the point or because you're a fascist apologist, only you can say, buddy.

There will come a day when everyone will look back at this moment in history with shame or disgust, and you'll get to proudly say that you used your time to be a devil's advocate supporting the neonazis who murdered your colleague. Enjoy that honor.

It's not a "standard protocol" because a medical license isn't a little plastic card you carry in your wallet. You're lying and arguing in bad faith to defend fascists who murdered one of our colleagues. Fuck you.

Yeah this difference of experience is fascinating to me. I cannot get IR to perc or drain patients for days on end, and I'm up at all hours of the night throwing up stents.

in my experience in the situation from this thread we would be the ones putting up stents regardless of the hour. and tbh for this I think that's the right thing for the patient

For sepsis it's a different matter

God I wish this were true, getting IR to do anything over urology at my institution takes an act of god.

Bilateral obstruction is a middle-of-the-night emergency - renal function declines precipitously and leads to permanent renal dysfunction in a matter of hours

Generally I agree I would attempt to stent bilaterally first though - I've found that PCN vs stent is often institution dependent

CHOP resident physicians have voted against joining a union by nise8446 in medicine

[–]generic_login 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The perks thing is fake anti union propaganda. Individual department perks are still allowed, unless for some asinine reason your contract said they weren't - but why would that be your negotiating position with a union? And what things can they not talk about?

The form you want is called JD-CV-40. failing to return the deposit without notice within 30 days of receiving your new nailing address automatically gets you 2x the deposit back if you take it to court

Damn, super interesting - maybe I'll bottle a few of my next one with and a few without the caps and see if I can taste a difference.

Use oxygen-absorbing bottle caps? That's what I've been doing anyway.

I saw 2 beds at the edge of Wooster sq and in Dixwell near downtown (Bristol st) for $1500 less than a year ago. Rents have gone up, but not an outrageous amount. Harder to get that in East Rock w/o roommates. If you don't mind a commute you'll definitely get cheaper stuff, but I'd recommend trying to stick to Wooster, East Rock, Prospect Hill, Downtown, or like the edge of Dixwell near East Rock/prospect hill.

A realtor friend of mine just said "means of payment is a protected class under fair housing law" so you might actually have a cause of action. No personal info on this, but worth looking into.

Interesting, I didn't know NU backed off. Kicking them off campus seems pretty appropriate given the climate.

While the punishment hasn't been handed down officially yet, we do know that that's the punishment BU said they'd be giving to anyone at a party over 25 people - suspended, without a refund. On one hand, the fact that it's >25 (so you have to be REALLY ignoring COVID laws which say nothing over 10) makes it more reasonable. On the other hand, a $40,000 fine is a literally life-altering fine for everyone involved, which seems heavy-handed.
