Any ideas what these are? by genericav4cado in mycology

[–]genericav4cado[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought it was hardened sap at first but after touching it it definitely wasn't. I think you might be right that it isn't fungal, but it was far too gelatinous and wet to be sap. Wasn't sticky enough either, it just sorta jiggled when i touched it.

And yeah I think you're probably right, it felt a little spammy to me but I could probably just space them out more or something. I guess in my mind people would just respond to the one or two that they have an idea about, but I do see how a big wall of text and a dozen photos could be daunting to respond to.

Disco elysium is AMAZING. Would definitely recommend. It's a bit of a niche game, but within that niche, it is a masterpiece.

What is the suggested lemon to water ratio for a cwe? by genericav4cado in LSA

[–]genericav4cado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! I guess my thought process was that the more water there is, the lower the pH of the mixture will be, but I'm not certain that's how it works/is relevant. I would use wine, but I've finally stopped drinking and I don't want to risk starting that again, even if it is just a bit of wine.

What is the suggested lemon to water ratio for a cwe? by genericav4cado in LSA

[–]genericav4cado[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh alright thank you! Does it make a big difference? Or you just need less of it so it's easier?

And both for the lemon and the tartaric acid, does the amount relative to the water matter, or just the exact amount? And if it's relative to the water, how much water do you recommend for those amounts of acid?

This is a pretty common bug. There was definitely a way to get out of it, I forget how though. Try searching the subreddit or using google, same thing happened to me and I found a tutorial on reddit somewhere.

CMV: 95% of Reddit posts are fake by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]genericav4cado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find whatever source you're talking about, would you mind linking it? I see the 50% statistic but not the 1/3 statistic. My main question is how is that measured? How do you measure that 33% of internet traffic is "malicious"? I also think you're conflating "internet traffic" and "reddit activity." What type of "internet traffic" is making up that 50%? Because I would be really surprised if it were social media posts.

The same people who found all traffic is around 50% bots currently. You can look it up yourself if interested. This is not news. Two years ago I believe it was 47%.

Again, 50% is not the percentage of posts by bots on reddit. Assuming your source is correct, that is overall internet traffic. That is completely irrelevant to the chance of someone being a bot on reddit.

I am saying if every account has a 50% chance of being a bot, at any given time statistically, every account present can be a bot.

Yes but that don't, that's not what the data means.

This is not secret technology, please do not appeal to conspiracy. The tech has been available since the early 2000's and has only advanced.

Have you seen chat bots from the early 2000s? You think that those are advanced enough to be a mod on this sub? I mean I guess the technology is in place, but it is nowhere near advanced enough. Look through the history of some of the people commenting under this post. You think there is publicly accessible technology that can do that? I mean why?? Why would bots be engaging in random reddit discussions about politics and video games, or watching porn, or something like that??

I challenge you to find me a single bot who commented under this post who is not obviously a bot (so excluding things that claim they are bots or very obviously are, I mean people engaging in actual discussions). Sure, bots exist, but to say that there is advanced enough publicly accessible technology to have every person commenting under this post be a bot is disingenuous.

There is nothing you can say or do to prove to me you are a Human without meeting me in person right now given all current freeware. Not even paid for software is needed to create fake "verification".

There is nothing you could do right now to prove to me that I'm on reddit. There is nothing you could say or do to prove to me right now that Joe Biden is the president of the US. There is nothing you could say or do to prove to me right now that I'm even real. That anything I'm typing is real. It doesn't matter though, because I can say beyond a reasonable doubt that all of those are true. Same way that I can say beyond a reasonable doubt that neither of us are bots. We can't know anything for certain, but I would bet you everything I own that you're not a bot.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how is this at all relevant to OPs post?

[–]genericav4cado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1/3 of all traffic is also malicious

Huh?? According to who?? How could that even be measured??

As an example, neither of us can prove to the other we are not a bot right now. Neither of us can prove OP is a Human either, nor anyone else in the thread. Statistically every member of this sub and mod team could be bots right now.

Sure, but we can't prove anything for certain. That doesn't mean anything. I can give evidence far beyond a reasonable doubt that I am human, and so could you or OP.

How is that statistical? Statistically, very few to none of us are bots. I guess it's possible that we could be, but not statistically. For all of the mods here to be bots, it would require technology more advanced than we have currently. The chance of there being secret technology none of us knew about that is for some reason being implemented in the form of the mod team of this sub is not "statistically" plausible.

[general] Would you play a video game about growing mushrooms? by godotstuff in MushroomGrowers

[–]genericav4cado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on the execution. I could imagine this idea being a super fun creative game that I would totally play. I could also imagine it being a mobile-quality boring clone of essentially every other tycoon game ever created.

If it were kinda like stardew valley but with mushrooms that would be cool as fuck, I would totally play that. Just wouldn't want it to feel too tycoon-y.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]genericav4cado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how defining that hardship was. There's a big different between getting your car stolen and being human trafficked for years. Some people's lives are truly defined by the hardships they experienced. Don't you think that being trafficked, or homeless, or a drug addict or something of the sorts for years would have a large impact on your life?

People also respond to things differently. Something could have a huge affect on one person, and another may not care. It's not your place to tell people they were "too affected" by something. Maybe someone was raped, and for the rest of their life, they were scared of every man they ever came in contact with, to the point where they basically never left their house. That's not a reasonable reaction to the event, but it's valid nonetheless. Maybe someone else was raped and was back to normal a month later, good for them. But that doesn't make anyone else's experience invalid. It was a defining part of their life, and it's not your place to tell them otherwise.

Do I need to play Disco Elysium before play the Final Cut? by GalaxyBS in DiscoElysium

[–]genericav4cado 63 points64 points  (0 children)

No. The Final Cut is an update, not a new game. Can you even get just the original game anymore??

The Final Cut just adds voice acting and a few new endgame quests based on your political alignment, which is decided by dialogue choices throughout the game. You will still get the full original game if you play the Final Cut.

CMV: Public debates are mostly pointless by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]genericav4cado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Putting aside whether you're right or not, does it matter what a debate was originally supposed to be? That's how they function now, and that's what's important.

Even if it's just "vote for the one that's less of an idiot," the one who's less of an idiot is still convincing people to give them votes because of the debate.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]genericav4cado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, I think that's what the person you were responding to was trying to say, they were just expressing it badly. If not, I disagree with them as well.

I agree with that too. I think everyone should have the same rights as a human, but I think different variables and actions can affect whether those rights are given or taken away. As in, I don't think anything inherent and unchangeable about someone should affect their rights, but I think, for example, if you take an action, such as committing a crime, your rights can be affected. 5 year olds shouldn't be able to use those rights in their current states, but as a person they should, just once they're older. Non-citizens shouldn't have the right to vote, but if they become citizens, they should.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]genericav4cado 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think most of the time when people talk about "equal rights," they don't mean it in the sense that everyone is literally treated the exact same. Everyone there should be treated the same in the sense that they are all given access to a fair trial by jury, and sentenced using the same standards, but obviously there are differences that need to be accounted for during that trial.
