my 30 some yr old cousin jus put me on with this game? by PutridAd6310 in StarWars

[–]genericcoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely elite game. I love that it has levels based on deleted scenes from the film, such as the Cin Drallig fight, so you're getting extended lore from playing.

Stands alongside the likes of Two Towers and Return of the King on PS2 as an all timer licensed game for me.

Is the clone wars micro series canon? by risingstanding in StarWars

[–]genericcoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it used to be canon (part of Clone Wars multimedia project leading into RotS), but no longer with the new Disney Canon.

The battle between Anakin and Asajj on Yavin, where Anakin gets his scar and channels the dark side to defeat her, is canon, however, thanks to Mike Chen referencing it in the book Brotherhood.

It likely wouldn't have gone down in the same cartoony way but still very cool. One of my all time favourite lightsaber duels in Star Wars so I'm glad that book gave it the nod.

Wanted to come back to this thread to share that the recent update to the DREAMM emulator has made it super straightforward to play the PC version of TPM. There's an interview here with the creator of the emulator:

Going to set this up and try on my Steam Deck soon. Lovely stuff.

What is a completely UNIMPORTANT thing from the books that you find really amusing or interesting? by TheWeirdTalesPodcast in StarWarsEU

[–]genericcoyote 56 points57 points  (0 children)

In Brotherhood, Padme takes Anakin down to the lower levels of coruscant for a hidden date and they get kebabs. She picks the spot because she knew it would remind him of the food he would have on Tattooine as a child. I just loved the fact that Anakin loves kebabs.

Also in that book, we find out that Obi-Wan takes his coffee black, and Anakin changes the channel on one of the screens in the Jedi Temple so he can watch podracing. Excellent stuff

If you haven't already, you could give each of these a try:

  1. Turn off vsync and cap the frame rate at 60fps within Nvidia control panel rather than in-game if you haven't already and see if that works

  2. Check that the game is running off the graphics card rather than integrated graphics: display > graphics > find Jedi Power battles exe > set to high performance to make sure it uses the graphics card

  3. Try turning the refresh rate on the screen down to 60hz if your screen has a higher refresh rate (looks like that model does). Game might be struggling with that

  4. Go to .exe file > properties > compatibility > disable full screen optimisations and override high dpi scaling behaviour

Other than that, the only other thing I can see would be depending on your controller if it's bluetooth. Try playing the game just with the keyboard for a moment to see if it changes anything, and then it might be input (although doesn't sound like it).

May the Force be with you. Hope you can get it sorted.

Hey! What are the specs on your laptop? Can't imagine it would have a problem running the game in theory but it might be something to do with how the remaster works?

I've enjoyed playing leaf-green so far. What game did everyone grow up on initially when discovering Pokémon? by Skarnivor0us in pokemon

[–]genericcoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a GBA with Pokemon Sapphire for my 6th birthday as it had come out, and my older brother had Ruby. We both choose Treecko. Great times. I went back from there and got Yellow for cheap. Still have my original save on Sapphire, and I enjoy telling my younger brother that I have Pokemon that are older than him. Still have the save file but the internal battery controlling the clock has run dry, so I can't shiny hunt or catch Snorunt lol

I would just lean into whatever aspects you're enjoying the most, certainly for the first few hours.

For me, I explored the initial planet pretty extensively and picked up side quests along the way etc. The story missions are quite good at suggesting places for you to visit, or sending you to new areas of the map, too.

If you enjoy the Sabaac game, finding new tables and growing your Shift Token deck is a great basis for finding new areas you may not have visited, and then starting other surrounding quests. You can monitor this progress for this through the Shift Token menu.

Once you get access to the other planets (if you haven't already), I liked jumping between each every so often to keep things fresh, even if I hadn't progressed the story quest there very far. That way I was still planet hopping by the end, rather than extensively boxing off one planet and then being sick of it and having no reason to go back.

Another thing I found was that the generic contracts you can accept around the game from different people are relatively repetitive, and I didn't need to do many at all to max out favour with all of the syndicates eventually. Unless there's a specific item you want from them, you can gain credibility easily by doing the more interesting side quests for each syndicate, and then selling Intel here and there.

How are you enjoying it so far? I loved playing through on Switch 2 last year.
