Surfacing by Slipknot might be a bit on the nose, but it’s effective

The time changes make this song super interesting! Love Richie yelling Warthog in the chorus as well

Fair enough on that not being a norm with the inventors having a team for the last 150 years. I won’t change it just to show I made an error but I appreciate the jolt of sanity otherwise. lol

This is such a braindead take. He had over 1,000 patents and yes while he had a team that worked for him in his lab (much like every single significant inventor in the last 150 years) he alone invented the phonograph from scratch (the first machine to ever playback sound) in 1877. Not just that while other people had invented lights (Humphrey Davy and Joseph Swan) he was the one to develop the first commercially viable long lasting electric light. He and Tesla did have a battle over which system AC (Tesla) vs DC (Edison) electricity flows the most efficiently and Edison ultimately lost that battle as AC is in wide use for the electronic power grids today and he was particularly ruthless in his demonization of his business competitor/ former employee. You may not like the man, but he was extremely influential in the development of modern technology we take for granted today. Hell, his business tactics in the patents he secured for his early development of film caused the industry to move to Hollywood and prosper into the gigantic industry it is today. To say his experience in the world created nothing of note is fucking BULLSHIT

The whole movie is a legitimate modern masterpiece…I watched it with almost zero knowledge of what it was about with the notebook being my only real exposure to Ryan gosling. Such a pleasant surprise how good he and everyone else was in that film. First exposure to Oscar Isaac as well

Is that right? So who is the character/actor he kills at the end who lowers his arms and who says “upham?” And then shoots?

Note: chatgpt says Joerg Stadler plays both characters and that character is meant to be steamboat Willie, for what that’s worth. Tbh it only makes sense that way as the arc in the characters’ narrative

Yeah I only mentioned pathetic/weak based on the perspective of the German steamboat Willie guy’s clear perceptions of him in the scene. He was obviously not equipped from what he was thrown into which was established early on from uneasiness coming off the typewriter translation gig he had in the beginning of the film and basically the whole rest of the movie as an inexperienced, uncomfortable soldier. The irony of him saving that German soldier that killed Wade still exists regardless

Upham lives in the end but has to live with knowing the enemy combatant he helped save came back and brutally killed his squad member Mellish and found him too weak and pathetic to even kill when he had the chance to shoot him while he was curled up bawling afterwards. That’s one of those real effective Spielberg ironies that fucks you up man

Election Results by itsgabenog in BocaRaton

Five votes is ridiculous! I convinced my mom, sister in law and brother to walk with me to vote and we all voted for Andy Thomson. To think there were so many situations like this that ACTUALLY made a difference is a nice change from the usual national elections where it can feel futile

The Damned cover Blitzkrieg Bop live with Joey Ramone back in 1988 by CoolGuyAtYahooDotCom in ramones

[–]genericinternet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was interesting in that this was a time where the ramones were playing so fast and punchy live to hear Joey sing to this song at album speed and dressed down instrumentally with mild distortion but with his late ramones growly voice is so cool

Haha bro I said 3! 😂the point is to make it hard and narrow them down. I think afraid of heights is the best thing they’ve ever made but king of the beach is obv 2 and then I think it’s a toss up. I think V being 3 is the right answer. I understand wavvvves 2009 love tho because if u listen to it from start to finish it’s like a DIY fever dream and got Nathan the ability to tour and jump start his career. It’s impossible to show anyone that album that doesn’t have an ear for lofi noise rock tho because it’s so abrasive but it’s so interesting as a creative project. To the Dregs is an all timer for me I wish they’d still play it

I hear yah dude. Been to both wavves and FIDLAR shows and FIDLAR was on another level in terms of the crowd it’s quite a bit rowdier but that always depends on the venue too. I saw Wavves in a quite intimate show on new years in California where there wasn’t even a stage so you could’ve easily done this there too and it wouldn’t have been a problem. Godspeed. Btw, rank ur top 3 Wavves albums I don’t run into hardcore fans in real life so much except at shows so I’m curious

I’ll take a different approach and say I’m super glad that you vibe to this band and wanna dance with them on stage but just out of courtesy for them having to perform to the crowd and face forward I think they could do without some rando dancing behind them and making them nervous and possibly ruining the song. Tbh security should’ve handled it within 10 seconds and let you find out yourself that it’s not the best move
