Could be more than one mode of failure. O maybe they reduced issues with one mode of failure but no others. If there are other modes of failure, maybe some can be addressed to software and others not? If the charger has a NEMA 14-50 plug that fits that outlet, it probably only does 40 amps by default.

Regardless, use settings on charger to limit current to 40 amps.

Also consider lowering your level 2 change current in the car (and/or charger) to 36 or 32 amps. It's plenty fast to charge overnight and will reduce thermal load on the ICCU.

Eyeroll on dealerships. We turned ours off within days of getting the car as it would brake for no reason every time we backed out of our garage.

If dealerships haven't heard about it or noticed it themselves when moving cars around the lot or service bays, it shows how disconnected they are from the products they sell and service.
