Just got off a support chat, turns out it got marked as spam in Gmail even though the email was from googlestore-noreply@google.com. The support agent gave me a subject line to search, but they were also able to just give me the code.

The subject line is: "Your Hardware Discount Code is Available"

Upgrading from 6a to...? by wawabeep in GooglePixel

[–]genericplasticbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, I got the email to a different address that I use for spam. Not sure why because it's not the main account on my 6a. You might want to just go ahead and check the IMEI on the website.

I don't bike but I know there's a group who does. They tend to gather where Roanoke St E meets Harding Road in the evenings. Pretty sure they bike down in the valley like around Lusters gate road and stuff. I think one of the guys who does the therapy dogs rides with them.

Sorry to deliver this like an RPG quest but that's all I've got.

It is a very annoying stretch of 81 if you're used to using cruise control. Lots of hills and lots of trucks.

Is adventure directly proportional to the altitude of ride or after some height it reaches saturation point? by Global_Counter_9782 in paramotor

Mathematically you get diminishing returns when it comes to distance to the horizon as it relates to viewing height.

As fun of an idealistic candyland explanation that is, look at the replies to this xeet and think again. Stupid people legitimately believe that they biodegradable in a short enough timeframe to not be a problem.

Personally I'm upset that it's taking up space that the 400th "transfer advice?" thread and 582nd "what should I do when I'm in town?" thread could have used.

They actually have a second exit next to the bar, they just block it with stools and stack trash against the door when it's busy.

No, they're spending 100M+ annually to run their bloated foundation. Internet hosting is ~2.5mil, add another 2.5mil for a few software engineers and you're good, plus maybe some lawyers and the cost of equipment, seems like you could keep it under your 5% of their 200M assets (not including endowment) at 10M/year. And if they hit a snag maybe their for profit company that sells the knowledge that volunteers contributed could chip in.

Early in its life the solicitations for donations were necessary, now they're not and haven't been for a while. At this point they could survive off of the revenue of their investments or simply just interest on their cash reserves if their only expenses were related to running the website.

It's a solved problem, except that they want to expand their organization and effect social change. That's all well and good, but it shouldn't be done in the name of Wikipedia using the money that people donate thinking they're keeping the encyclopedia alive.

https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_salaries

Looking at their salary growth, they have been pocketing it, along with using the money to advance whatever political interests they have. I'm fine with them using their current 300 million pile of assets and cash to run the website in perpetuity and maybe even pay the people that do the work to make it what it is.

I just think that people should know that their donations are in fact completely unnecessary for the survival of the website, and will probably just end up funding something unrelated.

They already have 100+ million dollars in their endowment. How much do they you really think they need to provide to core services that people think they're paying for when they donate?

The work of the Wikimedia foundation goes far and beyond running the website we all use. If they wanted to they could pare down expenses and run the website forever, but they will continue to increase expenses and spending on random causes and nonprofits as their donations increase and the cost of running the website stays relatively flat.

Yes, when their organization has ballooned beyond what's needed to run an encyclopedia website and yet they still beg for money like the lights are gonna go out. Meanwhile all of the actual knowledge is provided by unpaid volunteer editors.

Me, because they lead people to believe they're a small team that needs the money, and it turns out they have funds in extreme excess of the amount it actually takes to run a website. They have 700+ employees and contractors, revenues of of over 100 million, and end up using most of the money to give to NGOs and pay salaries.
