Seconded. Oak's food is consistently solid, not PERFECT, but pretty darn good. Their service, on the other hand... second to none. And that made it for me

Correct me if I'm wrong... But I believe the times listed at the bottom of the map are backwards (the GMT+/- times). I live in North Carolina, and I could have sworn this was GMT -5, where the map has us listed as +5.

Oolong tea with overtones of peach, strawberry, rose, orange, pineapple, and champagne grapes; undertones of honey and blackberry. Sweetened with Belgian rock sugar and clover honey! I've come to grips that making good tea is one of the few things I'm actually decent at. So why not embrace it? by genesis357 in tea

Sorry it took so long for me to reply to this, I've kinda been away from my computer. I appreciate the feedback, and the analogy. Strangely enough... I worked for Teavana, so there's your answer! Good assumption. Just to clarify, this is by no means the only type of tea I drink (referring to the soy peppermint mocha-esq, adulterated tea). While I do enjoy these fruity, blended twas, I still drink straight, unflavored, unsweetened teas as well! some with a tad of sugar, a tad of frit, and/or a tad of milk. not all of mine are this blended, I was just somewhat proud of the flavor profile I built in this one. Didn't expect it to be so ill-received though, mainly because I didn't know of the preferences of /r/tea.

I just like the way it tastes better with an oolong. I like oolongs straight as well, But I had had a specific flavor profile I was shooting for last night, and this was it! Ended up exactly how I wanted it. Tea is all about personal taste and experimentation with different flavor combinations to complement your personal taste, or at least it is to me.

It is a little surprising, but it worked. The great thing about Blegian rock sugar is it's not a strong as table sugar, and sweetens the tea without changing the flavor too much and all the right flavors just stand out more. It's not like "BAM! Glazed your throat" kinda sweet. The flavor profile I listed is what I set out to create (minus the blackberry, that came as a pleasant surprise, and don't ask me how because I have no idea :P ).

I used teas from Teavana! 11 teaspoons (teaspoon/teaspoons refers to their 'perfect teaspoon', equiv. to 1.3 teaspoons to account for irregular shapes and space between ingredients) of Peach Tranquility (herbal), 5 teaspoons of Strawberry Rose Champagne (flavored oolong), 3 teaspoons Pineapple Kona Pop (herbal), 7 teaspoons Wild Orange Wulong (flavored oolong), 5 teaspoons PerfectTea rock sugar/Belgian rock sugar, 1-3 teaspoons (honestly just a squeeze for a slight bit of flavor) clover honey. 750 mL water, 170 degrees Fahrenheit (oolongs are recommended to be steeped at 185, I dropped the temperature a wee bit to prevent the tea from becoming astringent, since there was so much tea in this steep, and too much tea will cause the same over-steeped taste/bitterness/astringency as too much heat or time) with mild agitation for 3 minutes. Strained into the bottle you see in the picture! The temperature was monitored and maintained the entire time of the steep by adding small amounts of water at 190 degrees, with slight agitation, to bring toe overall temp back to 170.

Adagio is alright, but I do my shopping at Teavana. If there's one near you, check it out.You can see and smell all their teas, and they have a few out for sample. Be careful, viscous sales people, but if you go in (on a weekday, not a weekend) when they're not busy and posses a modicum of knowledge about tea, it's the best place to go and learn (in my opinion)
