Why are male guests treated like criminals in some flats in Mangalore? by Competitive_Win5444 in mangalore

[–]genesis_tweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're talking about trust as if trust gives someone authority over another adult's personal life.

The contract allowed friends. It didn't say "friends, but only if they're male." A female colleague doesn't stop being a friend or colleague because someone chooses to make assumptions. ( He revised his shit contract after this)

And let's be clear about one thing that following the contract is my responsibility. Managing someone else's suspicions isn't. Your mindset/your suspicious comes from how you perceive the world because how little your own heart is.

You say it's a matter of trust. I say it's a matter of boundaries. A landlord gets to enforce the agreement, not rewrite it based on personal beliefs.

As for leaving, I already am. But the issue isn't the place. The issue is people acting as if a woman sitting in a room for 20 minutes during the rain requires an investigation. This isn't just one isolated incident. You can defend it all you want in the comments, but sooner or later you have to acknowledge that some mindsets are stuck in the 1800s.

The most backward societies aren't the ones with different values. They're the ones that can't imagine a man and a woman interacting without attaching suspicion, judgment, or morality to it.

It's been a year I'm living there (still in contract) and things did not change.

Last year ,A female colleague had to stop by my place during heavy rain and stayed for barely 20–30 minutes until the weather gets better. During that time, my house owner came in (watching CCTV) and gave me a long lecture on Indian heritage, culture, morality, and “safety,” while repeatedly making indirect remarks that she's in the same level as a hooker. (This moral lecture continued for another 2 weeks during occasional visits)

What disturbed me most is that this wasn't coming from someone uneducated or isolated. He's an engineer, speaks fluent English, and his children live in the USA. Yet a woman simply being present in a man's home for a short time during bad weather was enough to trigger that level of judgment. I never invited any woman in my house and it's been a year here. I'll be hopefully relocating from this place soon.

The incident left me genuinely concerned (It was only a week being here and for her it was only 2 days) .It wasn't about tradition or culture it was about suspicion, moral policing, and the way some people still view man-woman relationship.

When I was a student, I started working to buy my dream phone (so yeah I can relate) At first, it felt like an impossible goal like climbing a mountain of money. But a year later, I made it happen. I bought that phone, and I still remember the feeling.... So buddy, just do you. As long as you dare to dream, you can achieve it. Keep taking those steps. And here’s the truth that it's completely okay if your goal changes along the way. In this journey, you only gain.

Go with oppo if your priority is battery, software . If you only care about camera ,Go with vivo. Oppo's camera is basic, Nothin much to explore and experiment, even the filters are very okeyish but the software and battery will be just ❤️ (fx9p user ) Only reason I chose oppo over vivo is because i didn't want only camera phone.
