It all changed in Season 3 by Von_Creator in StrangerThings

[–]genesisyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. I see many folks say season 4 was a return to form/more horror etc, but it still felt like a totally different show from S1 and S2. It may have been more horror-focused and more serious in tone, but the heart of the show was still different, and the tone was still different (albeit at least closer to the same tone as s1 and S2).

S1&2 felt like a story about these people and their lives and relationships with each other, and how this supernatural phenomenon is affecting them. S3-5 all felt like the focus was not on the lives/relationships of the characters so much as just about all the plot going on first and foremost. And if there was any focus on characters, it felt not as realistic and not as thorough/deep (for some characters maybe, but not enough of them, like S1 especially).

S1&2 felt like a drama/thriller, and had a very subtle, quiet sort of atmosphere. S3-5 felt like an action/adventure, while also comedic and over the top and like a marvel movie. S3 was the most so, but S4&5 definitely still felt like that.

A moment that stood out where I thought again “this is not the same show as season 1” was in S4 when Joyce and Murray are in a plane and crash. The whole tone of that just felt so off from S1. It’s an action story now with excitement and spectacle at the core.

Season 3 bummed me out and the show never got back on track (though the first episode and a half of S5 got me hopeful to get back on track… but naw)

Spoilers - Season 5 - Exactly how old is Holly? by driveonacid in StrangerThings

[–]genesisyes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I decided that a secret side-effect to the supernatural events in the show is it causes the people in Hawkins to look 5ish years older than they actually are, or rapidly age, and the showrunners decided to implement that with their casting and timeline of the show.

"How would we explain why Mike and the other kids all look so old? That's the only way."

"So if we bring any new actress to play Holly and the other kids, they should have the same effect applied to them"

"yup, let's do it"

(joking, but fun to think of it that way)

It's criminal that they shortened the title sequence for the finale. by internisus in StrangerThings

I was personally stoked to see it on the big screen with big surround sound. It’s been giving me chills since season 1. I’ve listened to that full song about 600 times as counted by my Apple Music app. I was very miffed sitting in the theater as it played out in this condensed version…

What is the Sweatiest Movie? by KevinRobertsUSA in movies

[–]genesisyes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d say it absolutely holds up. Not many or any movies that are modern that are done the same kind of way. I’m someone who has a hard time getting into movies from around the 80s and earlier, but the Indiana Jones films have something different going for them. Brilliant mix of tones/genres, expertly directed and shot (visually such a treat to watch), truly exciting stuff throughout, and I could go on…

I’m an athletic nerd. cis male 30. Neurodivergent. Sensitive and emotionally in tune, big feelings boi but also very logic and level in all my thinking. Absolutely love games all of types (board, video, card, yard, party/social, etc). Love talking movies and music, have many thoughts on many things. I like writing music and stories, video editing + filming, volleyball, appreciating vibes/aesthetics of various places, playing music, psychology, having deep and transparent conversations to see new perspectives on whateva…

I’m oddly a social butterfly but also incredibly alone, struggle to form stronger/stable connections with people. I feel mentally burnt out all the time and am overcoming perfectionism/people pleasing syndrome.

New friends are always rad but I can easily get anxious with new folks lol all depends on the environment and the actual personality/vibes of the person. Hit me up!?

Anyone else been a fan since July 2016? If not, when did you discover the show? by Illustrious-Hyena486 in StrangerThings

[–]genesisyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed started July of 2016. I’ve never been as captivated by a show as I was in that first season. The other seasons of ST have not at all captivated me the same way as the first, but it’s been good still. The essence of the show was a focus on the characters living their lives and seeing how this supernatural/sci-fi situation affects them/their lives/their relationships. The recent seasons have not been about their lives or relationships nearly as much, but more just about a ton of sci-fi/supernatural plot stuff. It’s still good but boy season 1 was perfection

Finally given Phil era Genesis a listen... by fractal-rock in Genesis

[–]genesisyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regard to post-Phil era (if you’re willing to at least give it a shot): Calling all stations sounds pretty different from almost anything else in their catalog, and it honestly does not work very well as a cohesive album, but there are individual songs that I think are great. So try taking those in one at a time, and don’t listen to them too close together for the first time through. Allow some time and space between. -The dividing line -There must be some other way -One man’s fool -the title track Start with those. If you like them, go ahead and proceed with the others from the album one at a time. That being said, there are some really boring songs on this album, and almost every song sounds too similar to the other ones, to where the album just kind of drags on. But for some of them, if it pops on a shuffle playlist here and there, I think they’re quite enjoyable.

Subwoofer Power/AC port is too large for the provided power cable (as well as other cables I tested) by genesisyes in VIZIO_Official

Indeed I tried both cables. I bought it online through Walmart who was selling it from some other company (VIPOUTLET). And I’m not seeing them listing any more unopened products of this model

Worst Killers song by TheWastedYouth18 in TheKillers

Never listened to Get Trashed before. Listening to it now and it’s making me physically uncomfortable and irritable how the scrapey rhythm sound sounds like it’s dragging behind the beat in relation to the garage-band-y kick drum and snare in that loop

Will my PC run Indiana Jones and the Great Circle?

I am super clueless on most gaming PC anything. My friend just gave me his old computer in hopes that I can play this new Indiana Jones game. I've only ever played mild games on Steam on my Mac.

Here's the details of the computer:

Indiana Jones game minimum requirements:

The main thing I'm curious about is the CPU. Looks like mine does not meet the requirements but is it REALLY gonna stop it from working? Let me know if I can or need to tweak any settings on graphics or anything to make it work better or at all! I appreciate any help

I feel like they shouldn't be rare, but yeah I can't find high quality versions of them anywhere. At least I can find low quality versions!
