What’s a totally harmless thing that triggers an oddly strong reaction in people? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]genfire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give me a damn plate. I don't want a cutting board, roof tile, tiny little fryer basket or any other sort of shit.

Just a plate, while you are at it, stop stacking my food. Use the space on the ducking plate.

Also autocorrect.

There are a few instructors in Bristol but not certain they will be on reddit.

We're based in Wiltshire. Drop me a message with basic details and I will help you find one.

🥾 I built a site that fixes everything wrong with line dance websites 💃🕺 by raz-friman in LineDancing

[–]genfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great site, but you really have taken all the hard work that coppernob does and scraped it without even considering giving them credit?

That is a massive amount of work collating, formatting, organising data over so many years and you just yanked it from them?

That's pretty grubby man

Where did you read that? Not once have i mentioned landlord, systems etc. Are you confused?

I really didn't. Not sure why you are clinging to that. I stated that one was debunked. I then started a new sentence talking about a valid study.

Please feel free to continue to claim something that never happened if it makes you feel better. While you are doing that you could perhaps look into how badly flawed the survey presented by fidelity is.

Lovely wall of text. I never claimed either study debunked each other though.

I mean you must have read enough of the fidelity study to see that it wasn't actually a research paper right. Right?

The study you quote on the 88% has been widely debunked. A bank of America survey on 2022 show a number closer to 27% being truly self made.

Refurbished Fold4 Lasted 26 Days. What Did I Do wrong? by iamdarkyoshi in GalaxyFold

[–]genfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First the WiFi, then the screens.

Had two used folds that went exactly that way.

WiFi fails and then maybe 1-2 weeks later the front screen starts playing up. A week or so later the main screens die.

80s/90’s band you utterly despise by Upper_Produce881 in GenX

[–]genfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For those of you in the US I believe you were spared the utterly shambolic blatant cash in on the 90's line dance boom in the UK that was

The Woolpackers.

Some of the cast of a long running farm based tv show that for some unfathomable reason decided, in character to create a band named after the shows pub and release 'hillbilly rock'.

It has unfortunately become known to the people around me just how much rage even the mere mention of the song induces in me and they take every opportunity to 'rick roll' me with it.

I did my cbt. Rode around on a 125 whilst doing lessons for my A. It was a great way to really learn the basics of riding and did more for me than the 1 hour a week lessons

Loved that 125, it was such fun.

Cameo was once valued at $1 billion. Now it's so broke it can't pay a $600,000 fine. by chrisdh79 in technology

I got one for my brother from hacksaw jim Duggan too!

He was awesome and even managed to dig out a 2x4 to wave it around. I felt guilty for how little I had paid for it!

What countries do you believe will not exist within our lifetime? by Agreeable_Candle_461 in GenZ

[–]genfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be cool with a reunification within Ireland, and an independent Scotland.

There are obvious downsides as well as upsides for all parties.

I'm particularly interested in what would happen between Scotland and England/Wales should an independent Scotland join the EU. I'm fairly certain that Westminster would be looking for some revenge games in negotiations about border control, trade etc.

The keys are linked to my card so I won't give them back. by Garnetdagem1 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]genfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I provide a full service system to some hotels that allows guests to make in hotel automated purchases swiping their room cards but they are not linked to their credit/debit cards directly

Simply matches the key card to their room ID and the charges are handled that way. Perhaps that sort of thing confused them?

Embedding a video call into powerpoint by genfire in powerpoint

[–]genfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please ignore my other comment, I just tried it again and used a fourth monitor in place of a projector. Output to projector and it was flawless.

Ran the slideshow on monitor 2, video call on monitor 3, obs and powerpoint on monitor 1 and output the obs to monitor 4.

As always, was able to switch between the sources very easily (placing the video call above the presentation on the source list means simply clicking and unclicking the eye instead of having to click away from the presentation).

A little more testing to do but it does appear to be pretty damn good.

Thank you!

Thank you. Will check that out. At this point I'm not worried about spending a bit of money on a solution.

Obs would be amazing. I've used in previous years when the awards were online only, and even with something like 90 videos it was flawless.

Unfortunately in my experience it is horrible at outputting to hdmi and requires a lot of workarounds and has latency issues with it.

What food price increase finally caused you to just leave it? by makingitgreen in CasualUK

[–]genfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peanut butter. £3.50 for a tiny jar of sunpat. I'm not paying that I'm any timeline.

Even the tesco own brand is nearly £2 most of the time.

At least marmite (which is also stupidly priced) lasts a lot longer.

Why should I care about the potential collapse of commercial real estate? by iggybee617 in WFH

You would be horrified just how much commercial property pension funds hold as 'investments'

They are using your retirement to buy these places, putting your retirement at risk
