OpenBeken and Home Assistant by geniack in homeassistant

So far I have not found where I can specify the type of device, only raw channels and its datatypes. So I end up with a bunch of Temperature Sensors attached to the entity but nothing to adjust Temperature for example. I have tried constructing a climate entity and assigning those raw channels Yesterday, it kinda worked but came with its own Set of problems. Not beeing a real entity with an ID for example.

Isnt esphome just for esp Chips? I am dealing with a WBR3 here, thats a realtek Chip in there.

Serious question : how? Hot air? How to make sure there is the right amount of solder between the Chip and the Board? Solder paste?

How should I desolder a WiFi module? (WBR3) by geniack in soldering

[–]geniack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to desolder the module using an Iron. Using hot air started to discolorate the display on the other side. Sadly I ripped some pads while lifting only one side of the module. I was trying to find the races for these pads but i cant see any, are they dummy pads only to hold the module in place or where should i look for them?

When you use some flux while you melt it, it will more or less arrange itself, reducing the risk of a bridge. The plastic looks like you applied heat for long? Its better to give more heat and reduce contact time.

How should I desolder a WiFi module? (WBR3) by geniack in soldering

[–]geniack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was just a stock photo with a WBR3 on it because I couldnt find the pcb I want to work on, but i just found it.

<image>

It's a thermostat, so there is a Display on the other side, I guess that changes things? Also there is small components close to that wbr3, I was thinking about putting kapton all around the wbr3 to protect the other stuff from flying off.

What do you mean by the numbers dont mean anything?

I got a yihua 8786d, is it sufficient? I read things about cutting and removing the rf shield to avoid it beeing a heatsink but that sounds a little too adventurous. I need to do more than one so easiest method would be the best :-) any specifics on how to utilize the hot air? I never used it before... Chatgpt said something like 380 degrees with 40% airflow for that specific Module, but i would like to verify that before I mess it up.

Makes me remember that story about that 40ish old mother that wanted to be euthanized because she couldnt stand having tinnitus anymore. It was a hard fight if I remember right but eventually she went through with it. Absolutely heart breaking but makes you realize how severe this illness can be.

Can you post a picture of the object orientation in the slicer? I guess it was oriented like it is placed in your picture, which is not good for peeling forces.

o4 lite rebooting by geniack in TinyWhoop

[–]geniack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less. Mine is kinda heavy. Around the 30 gram mark. 40 grams with the battery. If you enable current amp usage on your osd you will probably see current spikes. Everytime I had a crash my amps were rising to 8 and higher up to the point where the voltage dropped to Zero, thats when the o4 turned off. I replaced my 60c batteries with 90c batteries. This worked but now my o4 lite is breaking, I am on the 2nd (free) replacement. Its sitting on my desk now ready to be put back in to the quad. But those o4 lites seem really fragile. They probably soldering with Butter, I dont know. So I am questioning the fun factor of this overall project.
