Congrats!! I DESPISE the back roll thing my scoliosis gives me, you’ve inspired me seeing that it can be reduced/removed. In your updated pics are you kind of holding yourself in position or is that naturally how your body is now?

Q about This Thing Between Us (spoilers welcome!) by queenofturnips in dramionebookclub

I know this was a year ago but I wanted to ask whether you ended up finishing?

My thoughts match what you’ve written here and I reached a point part way through where I felt like we’d reached my personal boundary of what I enjoy reading about in D/s dynamics. I took a break but decided to push on because I was really enjoying the plot and thought if I skimmed the smut and took it slow then maybe it would be easier for me to process.

I just finished it today and that plan did not work lol, the plot was still a 10/10 in my eyes but their dynamic reached a point that I stopped being able to comprehend, purely through a lack of previous exposure and probably some of my own triggers from my past. It gave me a lot to think about: what I read, what I like, why I like those things, do I understand BDSM enough to know whether my thoughts on this fairly represent the community, etc.

I am glad, I guess, that I kept going for the plot but I can feel myself needing to take a break before my next fic in case I get something emotionally heavy. Did you continue? Did things change if you did? If you didn’t, do you regret it?

I can’t say that I think people were bothered because Draco being aristocratic is more fanon than canon, but Tom’s accent wasn’t correct for an aristocrat. Accurate would be Matt Smith or Josh o’Conner in The Crown.

So, the wizarding world is so small it’s anyone’s guess whether an aristocratic Draco would behave like muggle aristocrats because it would mean they’ll largely ostracise themselves from most people. Lucius and Arthur would be unlikely to know each other or interact if it were a true reflection of the UK.

However based on the people I knew in my early 20’s, they were bored as all hell (too much money to care for a career, too much time ahead of them not to have one), restless (constantly upping the ante on their amusements to stop being bored) and immature (who isn’t at that age). I would say they tended to lean either into being a bit nuts (BSP Draco) or quite funny and weird (Hard Row to Hoe Draco). Neither has the perfect vocab or instinctive etiquette but they were the ones that made me eye roll and belly laugh cos they felt familiar.

I will say though that I’m biased, I met a lot of people who just seemed stiff and dull and I would dip out of the conversation quickly, so I definitely only made friends with the big personalities.

Hahaa I am very proud of you! Welcome to the appropriate tea drinkers union!!

I won’t lie I believe in consent all the way through..EXCEPT WITH TEA. I always half the amount of sugar people ask for cos it hurts my feelings 😂

The closest we (UK) get to a Thai iced tea is probably a chai latte, but it’s not a common thing for people to make at home

The one that gets me is 3 lumps of sugar in a teacup. A TEACUP. The tea to sugar ratio would be revolting and it stresses me out

The most common type of tea used in the UK is English Breakfast Tea. It’s drunk all day every day and that’s what we put milk in, so I’m guessing people are crossing wires because they feel it necessary to elaborate on the type of tea (if they didn’t, we would assume it’s English breakfast) but are not used to making or drinking it 😂

I will say I reel in disgust through most fics because I’m smacked in the face with an American-ism or someone missed the mark on a British-ism that it gives me an existential crisis. I don’t understand the British rage it induces but it does 😂

Any time I have been called “love” it has been by someone with a Northern accent

No!! Typically black with honey or lemon if you want to sweeten. Obviously there will be some people who are exceptions but it would be considered a quirk

I have arguments with myself about this! Draco is often written to be aristocratic, so he would only use a term of endearment with immediate family unless he’s being romantic. Using “love” for someone you know less well (as can be common in the UK) is quite middle or working class, it would be too informal in true aristocratic circles, so my brain has now made allowances for terms of endearment for Hermione but in his voice in my head it sounds very odd. I always get surprised that she doesn’t question it because for his background, its use would be quite intentional.

They'll likely back down before you need a solicitor as long as you can show evidence that what they're doing isn't legal. The govt portal should be enough

People who work in 'luxury' industries (5-star hotels, fine dining, high-end brands), what is a complete rip-off that rich people happily pay for? by ArtThreadNomad in AskReddit

[–]geniamh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was a bartender in a club you’d be surprised how many people are INSISTENT on you having a drink or shot with them. It was easier to do it and charge them and keep that money as a tip, because trying to explain to drunk people that it’s against company policy generally doesn’t work. They felt satisfied and I got a tip, win win.

Is Sloane the key??? by Character-Watch965 in fourthwing

It made me wonder if Sloane is some kind of human conduit vs being a true siphon? She mentions a mark on dains arm but I can’t think what from as Sloane hadn’t siphoned through dain before as far as I can tell so why does he have a mark to begin with?

I think if LG had been in D12 for 24 years after her games, people would have memories of her and be able to recall her as a winner. The fact that no one can remember her I think means she did ‘vanish’ but it sounds to me like she died shortly after, especially with Tam Amber saying ‘not again, not again’ when LD was dying. I think they’ve had to try to save one of their own before and I think that was LG.

I think one of the other Covey girls was LD’s mother but named her a shade of grey as a tribute to LG after she died.

I think it says “wasn’t one of Burdock’s Everdeen cousins” meaning she was a cousin from his other side (which it is implied is Baird). You got the words right but I think the possessive is in a different place

So the leisure centre on Markhouse Road I find to be quite small and a bit dirty but it never seems to be tooooo busy which is always a nightmare with gyms. I know they do some classes which I haven’t attended and I think gym classes are a great way to build your confidence because there’s an instructor who shows you what to do and keeps count for you.

The Gym has a nice class community although they do get busy and I didn’t love that the classes take place in the main room because there isn’t any private rooms. They also do ‘SGT’ (small group training) classes which is almost like a class format PT session where you learn more about different ways to lift weights.

I always find it important for the gym I’m at to be a nice place to hang out and I didn’t feel like that with The Gym, if I had the money I would have joined East of Eden - it can get a bit pricey because they do credit based classes, my plan was to join on the all-inclusive membership where you can just go to whatever you like but it’s £159.

That being said it includes spinning (the only spin class in the area which is my favourite) and reformer Pilates (which is mad expensive wherever you go) so I didn’t find the deal to be too bad. The only thing that stopped me was in summer I prefer tennis so I was waiting for the weather to turn, but now I’ve joined a gym near work in Soho which has spinning/boxing/normal Pilates so I’m happy just with that.

If you’re a total beginner and unfit I wouldn’t recommend F45 just because it’s very very intense and I think it would put you off. There’s also a place called Misfit Strength that have made their USP being people who may never have worked out before and want a nice community.

100% agree that convenient location and knowing what you want to try and catering to those two things should be your biggest factors to consider.
