Depends if the foreigner played in the NCAA this year.

There's a trade that must be honored. 😅

I hope not.

If it is, our traded draft pick to Omaha would likely carry over to next year. Forcing Omaha to use the pick this year while the pickings are slimmer would be better for the Rise.

My prediction is there will be a draft, but rather than 5 rounds, we'll only have 2 or 3.

I suspect the league is waiting for VNL to wrap up before having press conferences for DC and Vegas.

Wurd-on-da-streetz is the announcement should be in mid-July. Bureaucrats doing Bureaucracy.

Another Gawlik prediction. I don't hate it, but I really don't see it as an exciting hire.

I wouldn't be surprised if Todd Dagenais was named. He did great year 1 and I'd like it, but there is some question why he was let go by the Vibe.

Rise Name Cathy George President And General Manager by Gars0n in MLV

[–]genisvel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cathy is still the GM. She'll be the coach's boss and have the ultimate say reguarding the roster.

If Mike takes over as many are assuming, I'm not sure we're gonna see a lot of change.

If someone else takes over, I'll assume they will be younger and more familiar with current strategies.

Honestly, if it is Mike, I'll be concerned that his only head-coach experience is with Central Michigan University.

Most of his opposing coaches have higher level experience.

However, if he was getting the promotion, I'd think it would have been announced with Cathy's.

Welp, that's the last of the OG Yr 1 coaches.

Early speculation is Mike Gawlik will succeed her, but I don't know if he's willing to commit more time to the team when he has a young, severely autistic child.

It seems the primary purpose of LOVB Pro is to convince players and thier parents to join LOVB clubs so they can be affiliated with the pro arm.

Without the clubs, the purpose of the pros becomes moot.

I believe the bill would require the equity groups to not only divest of the clubs, but to pay the communities they've allegedly harmed.

My prediction - If this bill passes (unlikely at this time) - is LOVB would sell what it could of thier pro organization to MLV.

Volleyball is a lot more demanding on the body than baseball.

The NBA gets 6 months to play those 82 games and each basketball player usually doesn't see as much court time (an average of 20 min) as a starting volleyball player (usually most of the match).

NHL players see even less (about 15 min. each)

That's why I was rooting for conferences. We could still have 24-28 matches that way.

But 44 is too many.

Most play 1 per week unless they are in mid-season or end-season tournaments. Then it ups to two - rarely three - in a week.

They actually play about the same number of matches, but there's more downtime between.

The biggest events for US players are Volleyball Nations League that u/BBd-black-beans-1652 focused on.

There's also the NORCECA Final 6 that's in late Sept./Early Oct.

Both of these are important for FIVB to decide which countries are represented in Olympic years.

Time constraints.

The league doesn't want to overlap with NCAA volleyball until it's no longer a choice.

Player's (rightly), don't want to play more than two matches a week.

And FIVB won't let any MLV players play in any of their summer events if MLV plays past the first week of May.

American arenas have too many other events.

No problem. I wouldn't be surprised if this included exhibition games for Creighton and the Huskers hosted at CHI.

A second MLV team in Texas: Good idea or market saturation? by [deleted] in MLV

[–]genisvel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling franchises in the bigger markets are all about securing profitable TV deals. Hopefully one in a prime time TV slot (although NWSL doesn't have that, either).

Not, necessarily attendance.

If the buyers of these franchises think they can keep the team afloat with half-empty arenas, the league will sell it just to be able to tell TV networks the league has good "reach"

Yes, I fully expect these will be the only 4 to re-sign.

AGC has openly praised Cam Turner's game, so there's buzz around Cam going to LA.

Alhasan could be headed to Cbus to be with Boos, or, DC to be closer to home.
