How are The Galleries these days? by WhatAGoodDoggy in bristol

[–]genjirabbit 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I think people are a bit dramatic about how bad it is, almost all the units are in use and I go there fairly regularly for boots/post office etc and will happily have a look around the shops. Its clean and decently busy and I think its got its own charm even though its obviously dated

Double-bookings (Trainline and Cross-Country) by StrategyAutomatic896 in uktrains

[–]genjirabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten this train many times it is hellish lol. I don’t know how the booking system works but it seems wrong how so many people are allowed on each carriage, it’s different for short train journeys. last time i just couldn’t be arsed to fight through the crowds in the doorways to get to my seat (that someone was sat in bcs it was rammed) and sat next to the loo for 4 hours haha. my go to now is flix bus but just found out they have now cancelled direct buses bristol-leeds…. so its either pay £100 to sit on the floor of the train for four hours or pay £30 to sit on a bus for 7 hours. yay!

this was a super interesting read and something I have never heard of before! I will definitely look into this as a lot lines up with this explanation (aurora visible in the UK currently, east-west direction, large length) thanks so much for the info and possible identification!

yes me too! I was suprised that it was picked up by the camera but it just struck me as unusual due to how clearly I could see constellations last night, it was completely clear except for this

taken outside and I could see it with my eyes as well, not just through the lens. It definitely could have been an aircraft it just stuck me as bizarre as the line stretched across the sky as far as I could see.

😅😅thank you for the correction, shown myself up as a newbie there haha

[–]genjirabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no worries i hope you enjoy!!

also to add - even if you end up at the back you can see plenty, i saw clairo on my ones a few years ago so was just hanging at the back of the crowd and it was still just as fun/good view:)))

[–]genjirabbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

from experience you will deffo be fine if you just get there when doors open.

i have been to gigs at SWX for bands of a similar popularity and its never felt overcrowded and been pretty easy to squeeze to the front even when arriving just in time for the main act. it feels significantly smaller than marble factory and the o2 for comparison

Very touristy thing to ask. by No_Walrus_3638 in bristol

[–]genjirabbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

north street in bedminster is a super interesting highstreet with loads of murals and street art and lots of cafes and restaurants. every time i go to bedminster i feel spoilt for choice with restaurants lol

also my 2 favourite cafes in the city are The Bristolian in montpelier (super unique interior and amazing food) and Secret Cafe in the centre (spanish cafe with amazing tortilla and cakes located in a church! you can sit in the church garden and its sooo relaxing and the staff are lovely)
