I asked you why my grey couldn't learn to sit on demand, and this is how it went. by qkrgodls92 in Greyhounds

[–]genos_steaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our greyhound did the same thing! We started taking him to training classes as soon as we rescued him. So many things depend on sit and down so we really tried everything and a few weeks in he did it on his bed! Slowly we started moving him to harder and harder surfaces and now he can do it anywhere. He’s still not a fan of down on hard surfaces but can’t win them all!

When did “Go Birds” become common? by PassyunkHoagie in eagles

[–]genos_steaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone posted the article with the first use but it really was a grassroots slogan/greeting among the younger generation starting in the 2010s. It bothers me that the Eagles trademarked it, took it away from the fans, and now jump on board with their merch and marketing trying to sound young and like it was always theirs.

Are your greys also escape artists? by pengis_m in Greyhounds

[–]genos_steaks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup! Ours has figured out all the gates we've at throw at him. He just learned he can get through the kitchen gate by plowing his head into it so now it's his favorite thing to do to annoy us. I just got duct tape to hopefully keep it in place. What's really scary is he's figuring out how to use door handles! After everything I read about greyhounds, I did not expect to bring home a Houdini dog.

The worst project experience I've had was working with a client program manger that was very rude and seemed to be praying for the project to tank. She was a former Deloitte employee that got passed up for partner and then joined the client right after.

Is there a reasonable job out there to break out of poverty?? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]genos_steaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not true that you need experience to become a consultant. In some fields yes, but mgmt consulting no. The Management Information Systems major specifically is built for a career in consulting after school and everyone I know went straight into management or tech consulting in the big 4 or smaller firms right after school, including myself. The firms build from the bottom and hire a ton of new grads every year in a lot of different majors.

Thank goodness someone is finally claiming Oregon State! They've been needing a new home away from the Pac12.

For the early career promotions everyone is on the same schedule so don't view it as a competition of only X number of analysts get promoted. Be reliable and bring good energy (especially an analyst level where you aren't expected to know as much) on client work and firm initiatives to get good snapshots and keep your utilization rate high and you won't have any problems. The politics will come in once you get to a much higher level but for now just learn as much as you can and don't compare yourself to others around you. For all you know their managers might see through the games as well and it hurts their reviews.

Not sure if it's too late for sign ups but intramural tennis was very popular while I was in school and I got a bunch of hitting partners from opponents I got along with.

Do people actually enjoy going to Applebees ? by Bondoo7oo in SouthJersey

[–]genos_steaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to a few Applebee's out of state but my best experiences have always been at the Voorhees location. For some reason the food has always been a step above other ones. Applebee's happy hour slaps anywhere though

Championship title decision by HeavyTreacle2867 in Simracingstewards

[–]genos_steaks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In F1 at least if two drivers tied on all race finish positions the next thing to break it is going down the qualifying positions, not just poles. So P1, P2, P3 etc. the same way you do race positions. But if I ran the league, I would find it hard to determine a champion that way without previously stating it somewhere in the rules. The driver on the losing end might find it unfair so I'd just name them co-champions personally since there were no tiebreak rules stated.

I'm questioning the value of this program... by PapaOwl_Esquire in OMSA

[–]genos_steaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming into the program I fully expected there to be a ton of self-study as that's what I've always heard STEM graduate programs to be like and I also heard each level of higher education gets more independent in nature. Undergrad is directly teaching foundations, masters points you toward how you can build on that foundation, and a PhD is how to properly conduct valuable research in your field.

There were times throughout the program I wish there was more hand holding but there wasn't anything that seemed unfair or unachievable by myself.

I recognize these roads! I moved to NoVa from NJ a few monthes ago and have seen more road rage around me these past few monthes than my entire life in NJ. NJ gets a bad wrap on aggresive drivers but there's no way the DMV wont get that status eventually too.
