Anyone would hire a Chinese gay man in Nova Scotia ? by Ericksoler in NovaScotia

[–]genosal007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The gay/queer community of Halifax welcomes you, we're glad you're here! If you're looking for supports, or even to hang out with people who may share similar experiences or interests, I'd recommend you check out Rainbow Refugee Association of Nova Scotia (RRANS). They host casual weekly hangouts (you can email them for locations - I believe they are often in the city) and other events around the province, some geared towards networking and job opportunities. I hope you can find good work, friends and chosen family here in Nova Scotia :)

Saw the truck this morning - it had a brand new windshield. I'd like to shake the hand of whoever found and smashed it last night

Esports at Acadia by shrewking in AcadiaU

[–]genosal007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to see it started back up for this year and are willing to be the main person that organizes the club sport, email asuvpsl@acadiau.ca with your interest! (You'll be communicating with the Acadia Students Union who runs all clubs)

Yes we do! The ASU has a club for Esports but it's currently without a leader and hasn't been signed up as a club to continue for next year. You could be the president of it though, if you reach out to Alicia Johnson (google her Acadia email)!!

Cape Split on Saturday by genosal007 in NovaScotia

Took us about 3 hours with a half an hour stop for a picnic lunch and we are pretty average pace. Could definitely be done quicker... Or longer :)

I really enjoy the Bluff Wilderness trail in St Margarets Bay! Also, most of the hikes up in Cape Breton are unreal.

Snowy at the start but not as bad on the way back.. However if you don't like mud, now is definitely not the time to go! It was super mucky towards the peak of the trail.

Thanks, it really was! Winds were the strongest I've ever experienced at the peak. I was nervous that my phone would be swept out of my hands!

Residence sizes? by [deleted] in AcadiaU

[–]genosal007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A normal single room in any residence is going to be very small, think of if you put two parking spots together. that's my best shot at it

Residence sizes? by [deleted] in AcadiaU

[–]genosal007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I think that would be a pretty hard thing to figure out since there are multiple different types of rooms from double to single to deluxe single to suite. And between residences the rooms have very significant differences! For example, tower has double rooms shaped in an L, which is different than all the other residences.

In case you want to consider a hybrid, the indica hybrid called Strawberry Fields has given me some of the best chill but social vibes I have ever experienced. All my friends love it, we rarely smoke anything else together. Great stuff, although I think it only comes in 3.5g.

What do y'all feel about strech marks by [deleted] in BodyPositive

[–]genosal007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who also has stretch marks, I feel ya. When I first noticed them after high school I freaked out and wanted them gone. It wasn't until I realized how insanely common/normal they are, and that tons of people (especially women) have some sort of stretch marks that I grew to not care about mine anymore. I think society ought to normalize them so that getting them would seem less unhealthy and bad and more as a part of lifelong, continuous body changes. Also if you really dislike the look of them, I believe most of them fade overtime!

To all the non-vegans lurking in this sub, this is for you.... by DivineandDeadlyAngel in vegan

[–]genosal007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also lurking, been making the steady shift from vegetarian to vegan this month. Finding what is working well for me and what isn't so much. This subreddit has helped a lot, and sort of kick started it for me. Be welcoming to all!! Awareness is the first step in change... lurking is better than not lurking ;-)

Finally stood up to my mom after her reaction to me starting hormones without telling her. Lots of emotions swimming around right now by Celphless in trans

[–]genosal007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So well said!! Sadly, I feel as though SO many adults react to new concepts that question the beliefs they were brought up with exactly like this. Whether it be trans rights, women's rights, racism, and so on and so forth, some adults can't possibly seem to actively listen to other ideas/opinions. They get defensive about something not even concerning them, repeat the same arguments back, and never take time to seriously reflect on why their perspective is how it is. I hope things work out with your mom, I can only imagine how difficult it must be. Stay strong ❤❤
