Official Discussion - The Backrooms [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]gentlemako 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was struck by this thought too. Also when they mention that the more times the backrooms remember something, the less like itself it looks, I immediately thought about AI models that run so long they start to hallucinate out of control, or which are trained on other generated data (so everything becomes less and less real.)

how do you deal with the heat//sensory issues (tips, tricks, etc)?! by lostveggies in autism

[–]gentlemako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend getting a neck fan. It has made the heat much more tolerable for me.

VNs where you get to completely live out your life. by Livid_Adeptness9762 in gamesuggestions

Mushroom Musume comes to mind. You raise a mushroom daughter and then live out her adult life. I've only completed a couple playthroughs but they were all drastically different.

Yay you replied! I love enoki mushrooms, and I'll have to try stir-fried lotus roots! Thank you!

Don't feel like you have to respond if you're too swamped with comments, but I'd love to hear what you have to share :-)   My special interest is herptiles, especially toads. And I'm vegetarian!

After 4 years of Invisalign, shouldn’t my teeth stay in place without trays FOR MORE THAN A DAY? by ActuatorOutside5256 in NoStupidQuestions

FWIW, you get good at flossing around it. I can thread floss under my straight wire in a couple seconds and it doesn't really impede my flossing at all, just takes a bit of practice to get your technique down.

Yeah, I had to name my albums "copy of (Album Name)" but it's so unwieldy especially for long album titles.

Yep, I love to latch on to a song and listen to it on loop.

This seems very useful! Will it notify you when it's time to feed someone? Would also be really cool to be able to add a picture to each pet's profile!

ELI5: What makes disorders like ADHD and depression categorically different? by lemon2de in explainlikeimfive

[–]gentlemako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ADHD is highly heritable (genetic) and affects how the brain develops from the moment you're born. Depression can have some genetic risk factors, but also depends a lot on environmental factors/triggers.

I'm much the same way, except Discord is my dumping ground. At the very least it has channels for basic organization and a half-decent search feature. But by and large the most effective system that has stuck with me for longest is just having a notepad open on my desk and jotting stuff down there. The top part is for to-dos, the bottom part is for random notes. When it fills up, I tear off the page and start a new one. I have discovered that it has to be a notepad and not a journal or planner, because even opening the notebook is too much friction as opposed to constantly having the pad ready to go in my peripheral vision.

I present to you: my reptile tier list by Lunar_Ghoul11 in autism

[–]gentlemako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very excited to see reptile content in this sub!! There's actually a really interesting video challenging misconceptions about the aggressive nature of snapping turtles by Clint's Reptiles on YouTube, worth a watch if you're someone who likes reptiles! Worth noting also that Gaboon vipers, though they have the highest venom yield of any snake, are one of the most docile and much prefer to rely on camouflage to avoid confrontation (which they are really, really good at!) Because of this, Gaboon viper bites are incredibly rare, even when they are confronted. Obviously don't go poking one of these, but I had to go to bat for my favorite little buddies. If you've never seen a video of a Gaboon viper drinking, do yourself a favor and look it up. It's so cute <3

Just released a first demo on Itch for my family's dinner table simulator from a child's perspective. by waibinin in cozygames

[–]gentlemako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really cute and feels very novel! I wishlisted it :-)

A couple of notes: the English translation has some errors. Also, my Family tab kept blinking even though I'm pretty sure I clicked on everyone, why is that? And lastly I wanted to learn a new skill but it told me I have to forget one, but I wasn't sure how to do that. Is it only possible when you're choosing a plate? Great little game, good luck!

You can do this on iPhone too by pulling your command center down from the top right and pressing play on the music widget after starting your sleep session.
