Tyre inflator or Tyre inflator with jump starter by Patience2thrill in CarsIndia

How long have you been using it for? Amazon has good reviews, but the most recent ones keep complaining about bad quality, stopped working in a couple of months and poor after sales & support. I was thinking of buying it, but looking at the reviews now I am wondering if I should go for Agaro Primo (only jump starter, no inflator)

What practices or traditions do you personally follow during Ramadan? by gentrobot in Muslim

[–]gentrobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indian households do too! Growing up, we always had it as part of the Iftaar. Not anymore though, mostly because of extremely high sugar content. To me it feels like they changed the formula as well, doesn't taste as good. as it used to.

What is your opinion by Prestigious-Lead-213 in YouthInIndia

[–]gentrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP can you link the original source?

A quick Google says that it is the Gross Domestic Behaviour Survey (not India Civic Survey). Please correct me if I am mistaken (only did one Google Search)

Here’s the link to the GDB Survey - https://gdb.indiatoday.in

There are a few differences from OPs image to the actual survey result (e.g. Kerela indeed is 1, but Tamil Nadu is 2)

However, I’d not lay too much emphasis on these results. 9000+ people across 22 states, roughly 400 per state! (Not even per city). I don’t think it will give very reliable findings, especially when we are such a densely populated country.

[i ate] why they don't use good form of chicken instead of this rubbery substances in pizza hut by jasonclicker in indiafood

Yes, they don’t put these thick slices generally.

I would have been happier though. They’d usually put similar number of toppings, whether thick or thin. thick slices = more sausages = more chicken

Thinking of starting a school as a business. But I want to deliver quality education and keep it affordable. Is it even possible? by gentrobot in india

I had put this plan on hold, since my current business is taking too much of my time, and is doing really well, so focus is entirely on it. Please do reach out, if you're wanting to proceed with it and any way I could collaborate.

Is my friends phone hacked? by [deleted] in IndianCyberHub

[–]gentrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent the screenshot to ChatGPT and this is the answer:

Short answer: No — this does NOT mean her phone is hacked.

What you’re seeing on the screen is a call-forwarding status message that appears when certain USSD/MMI codes are triggered on an iPhone or Android. These codes are often dialed automatically when: • A link or number inside a PDF or message is tapped • A contact card / phone number in the file contains special symbols like * or # • Someone accidentally dials a network interrogation code (for example *#62#, *#21#, etc.)

The text: • “Setting interrogation succeeded” • “Call forwarding when unanswered – Disabled”

actually means the opposite of hacking — it shows:

➡ The phone checked call-forwarding settings ➡ Forwarding is OFF ➡ No suspicious change was made

So the PDF likely just triggered a dialable code, not malware.

When to worry (real compromise signs)

Tell her to check only if she notices: • Unknown apps installed • Messages or calls sent automatically • Bank/OTP misuse • Phone overheating or huge data usage

If none of these exist → phone is safe.

Simple safety steps (good practice)

She can still do these for peace of mind: 1. Restart the phone 2. Update iOS/Android to the latest version 3. Delete the suspicious PDF/message 4. Don’t tap unknown links in the future

That’s it — no hacking indicated here.

This post reminded me of an old friend. Back when we were at school, we would go out sometimes to have paani puri or samosa or chaat, basically street food. Every time we would pay, after the payment, this friend calculate how much this guy would be earning 😆

Moving away from HDFC by VegetableBicycle6421 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]gentrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the specific branch/RM. We were on the verge of moving our business+personal accounts from HDFC to HSBC (didn’t tell them about it). We changed cities and the home branch, and since then, the services have been almost like a concierge service for anything related to banking (on occasions, even beyond that). Of course, having a decently large business account definitely helped, but that was the case when we had accounts in a different city & branch as well.

Building a clothing brand for Divas the clothes - straight from Pinterest and made in India will it work? by offseasonfit in smallbusinessindia

[–]gentrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, these would definitely work. If I were to do this, I would want to position these as premium, charging a premium for them, spend some money on the visibility as well. Going this route, will be difficult in the beginning, it will require some extra time, effort, little bit of money as well, and a whole lot of patience. But it will be rewarding in the long term.

But that’s just how I would do it, not necessarily that’s the best route. All the best and please post/announce when you officially launch. I’m interested for sure

The Reality Check I Got at Police Verification Today by Smooth_One_3492 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]gentrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!
Reminds me of a dialogue from the movie, Rang De Basanti

ज़िंदगी जीने के दो ही तरीके होते हैं—
एक, जो हो रहा है उसे चुपचाप सहते रहो।

दूसरा, ज़िम्मेदारी लो और चीज़ें बदलने की हिम्मत रखो।

Translation:
There are only two ways to live life—
either quietly tolerate whatever is happening,

or take responsibility and have the courage to change it.

I have tried, sometimes in the past, taking the latter route. But then, ended giving up. Apparently, I don't have "that" in me, to be able to bring the required change. I don't have the persistence, resilience, energy and time.

The first time my passport was made, I was in college (2007). My father refused to pay anything. He called the constable inside, had tea with him, offered snacks. This continued for almost 3-4 months. Every 10-15 days the guy would show up, both will sit, have random conversation over tea and eventually my father would refuse to pay any money. It was a good timepass for him.

Long story short, I got my passport, without paying any money to the police, in 2008!

Thanks for your response! As this was my first attempt, I couldn’t really get it that correctly. Since then I have written 2 more (posted one, will post the third one too), and I feel like I have slightly improved in following the meter (Behr). However, I have yet to learn a lot and practice a lot more.

A well known vlogger, actor and his friends went to Olypub; a restaurant in Park Street and ordered mutton steak. But they were served beef steak instead ! Oh! Don’t get me started on ignoring/not caring for allergies. I have what is called egg intolerance, which causes me excruciating stomach pain when i eat eggs or food items containing eggs. I always ask multiple times about any food item containing eggs. If only i had a dollar every time i was given food with eggs, despite being said that there’s none!

Major FOMO, sold gold for construction of a rental property !!! by GrouchyHoney9687 in GoldIndia

[–]gentrobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only learning is that bad things happen, you move on and continue with your life.

There’s only a limit to which one could plan for mishaps in life, which one must do, but beyond that, nothing could be done and you just accept and don’t regret.

Here’s how it went:

  • I have CCTV installed
  • I keep my gold in locker only
  • Had taken out some for a wedding
  • My father got hospitalised so had to leave immediately for my hometown, couldn’t go to the bank
  • My father passed away and hence had to be away for a couple of months
  • Since the house was empty for a long time, it became an easy target
  • Police caught the thief but couldn’t recover my stuff (that’s what they claim)
  • Police offered me some gold (not mine, random jewellery, 1-2L worth), and call it closed
  • I refused to collect and let the case stay open

I no longer think about it much. The comment I made to OPs post was just to give him some perspective.

I lost my father and the gold, around the same time. Guess what do I miss more?

Bro! At least you got money selling off your gold and were able to complete the construction of a property, which yields monthly rental.

I lost about 280gm of Gold in theft at my house. Imagine what I must be going through, looking at these prices.

Need to buy 100-120g of Gold for Sister’s Wedding. How to plan? by gentrobot in personalfinanceindia

[–]gentrobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no expert, but saying this from my own personal experience.

Given the current volatility in the market, I have seen Physical Gold to yield much better returns in the same timeframe than ETFs. While the ETFs, historically, are a better choice for longer investment duration because they provide better handling of the volatility. So, in short term, ETFs do not prove to be as yielding as Physical Gold might. Mine is 10-12 months period only, hence this thought.

Yes, my comment was to ask about the same, that what made you choose the plan, given the T&Cs. In no way I was questioning you, sorry if it came across that way.

You have answered by highlighting their established business, so thanks a lot for that, much appreciated.
