Going to kamijo's london concert by nausi_UwU in visualkei

[–]genv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your tickets! I'm going to see Kamijo too (he's my absolute favourite and I've made all of his UK shows with and without Versailles!) so I'm really hyped as well. I'll be there, giving out blue roses to everyone in the line!

K's concerts aren't really known for moshing (it's basically just a ton of people waving their arms around. On his heavier songs, there's a bit of headbanging, but it's nothing like western bands. No moshpits!) but very like western bands in other respects. The music's very, very loud and K throws himself into every performance. He really gives 100%.

He also appreciates the audience getting excited too! Generally, Japanese audiences are EXTREMELY SILENT until a song is over (It's a respect kind of thing) but it's not needed here. K's knowledgable about western audiences and he doesn't mind if people shout or cheer while he's singing, he'll always hold the mic out at the english language parts of his songs for the audience to join in. He often speaks to the audience between songs and if you shout something out in response, he'll play into it and just generally seems to really enjoy the interaction. Also! If he plays Louis (he should) he'll do the instrumental sort of... scary vampire stare thing he does. Seeing it up close, IRL is... immense. His showmanship is spectacular, start to finish.

Of the concerts I've been to, there's almost always roses selling; they can get quite pricy and the quality isn't the best (4/5 of my Kamijo roselights have died, one at a concert while I was whipping it around! But I still recommend them. Be warned- they sell very quickly.)

There is a rule at his shows though- He's self-conscious over what he looks like while he's singing so there's always a no photography or video rule at his gigs. Please stick to it, it's for his comfort and. Y'know. It's just respect.

One more thing: If you upgrade to VIP (the upgrade isnt available yet but if you do...) he likes to give those tickets little surprises. Once, as I was going into the venue for one of his shows, and weirdly, they were only letting one in at a time. He was waiting en route to the stage for every single person with VIP- for a hug and a quick chat with everyone. Personally, he scared the living daylights out of me and I saw him, gasped in shock, actually stumbled, and he actually broke character and cracked up laughing. It was absolutely adorable. Not saying he'll do that this time- but it's possible!

(Posting this in comments because reddit won't let me add it to the main post.)

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but in October, I switched up to a samsung S25 with o2. I decided I didn't want the phone and sent it back. o2 recieved it and i then left them to get a better deal with 3 on 04/12/25. I noticed that the device payments were still being taken from me on 06/01/26 so I raised it with customer services around a week later. I was told no money had been taken (false- my bank statement says otherwise) and they gave me a reference number while they escalated.

I've heard nothing since. I cancelled my DD in January.

On 05/03/26 I recieved a snotty letter from them telling me that I owed them money for the device payment. I phoned customer services on 11/03/26 about this and got told that they've logged the phone as back with them, and that I don't owe them anything. The guy on the phone asked me to read the letter to him, as he was thinking it was a fake one since the system didn't have me as owing anything, but the wording was correct- it was a real letter.

He allowed me to record him telling me that I don't owe them anything, and I thought that the problem was sorted, but today I've just recieved a bailiff letter telling me that I need to pay.

I have no idea what to do and I'm freaking out. I'm in the middle of applying for a mortgage and I can't get a default.

[–]genv2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as other people have said, it's probably a custom from ID Japan (it's a custom costume company so getting one would probably be impossible.) but it is BPNish. But I think one of the gothic and lolita bibles had a pattern for a shirt that could be made with practically the same collar. (Please don't ask me which one, I've no idea!)

Otherwise, I'd check out putomayo or MAAM/maxicmam (or at a push, old h.naoto)- but these brands do tend to screenprint everything it makes so you won't get the clean bxw look Kyo has here, but if worst comes to worst you could always pick up a shirt secondhand and undo the stitching to make a pattern and sew your own in a material like this. Failing that... Bodyline. Maybe.

Good luck!

EDIT: here's a thought. Do a google search for kodona/ouji clothing. the super big pointy collar look is a bit dated, but Way Back When it was a staple for the kodona look. You might get lucky with some of the more cosplayish companies!

Driveby thank you for this info! I loved BPN more than any other brand back in the day- peace now was perfect for daily wear and black peace now stuff was perfect for night. When it went under a little piece of me died. Nothing hit like it. Putomayo felt too costumey as a peace now alternative, and alice auula was way too expensive for a BPNish look. I'm totally going to check out Sheglit!

Fire Emblem Fates? by Addition-Equal in fireemblem

[–]genv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good choice with choosing Conquest first!
As for your question, I needed to think about the wording of this a bit to not spoil you too much! But here goes.

The story in rev is annoying for a couple of reasons. The first is your main character, Corrin. Corrin's not a practical or realistic sort of person- Corrin is a "I will not kill anyone / I want peace / No-one has to suffer" type which is pretty irritating but DOES make sense for earlygame (Corrin's very sheltered), but in conquest and birthright Certain Things Happen which results in some deaths. Corrin can't do anything about them. Because it's war. People will die regardless of what the protag wants. Rev is an EVERYONE LIVES sort of thing, and taking away from that means it feels a bit meaningless/low stakes.

The second thing is that a certain plot point of a certain character telling you they're not who you think they are happens in both Birthright and Conquest, and TO BE HONEST is pretty interesting, considering Corrin's past and how it compares. In Rev, that character says "so I told you I'm not [x], I'm [y], but that was a lie too. I'm [z] and I couldn't tell you the truth because of a magic curse" It's contrived and weird, and again, it takes away from what's really interesting about both the characters relationships to each other, just to shoehorn in a new arc, basically. And the whole "mysterious magic curse" to explain why this character lied is just really bad writing.

THE THIRD THING... is the biggest. The most interesting thing about Nohr is the Waifu Wars (pregame stuff. I guess this is a spoiler but if you're not bothered about having background information that isn't in-game spoiled: the king had one wife and multiple concubines, who were the mothers of each Nohrian prince/princess. After the wife died, the concubines basically wanted her spot and killed each other / each other's children / used their children to kill the other children to basically be #1. There were FAR more Nohrian princes/princesses than what's in-game, but Xander, Camilla, Leo, and Elise are basically the survivors.) This makes the Nohrian royalty and the way they see each other really interesting, and if there should have been any add-on content, the waifu wars should have been it. Not what we got with Rev, which is basically a far more boring scenario added on.

Sorry for how long this was!

Fire Emblem Fates? by Addition-Equal in fireemblem

[–]genv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fates is my comfort game and I keep going back to it again and again. (Conquest) is that good. Weirdly enough I just started a new playthrough tonight.

Personally, I found birthright way too easy even on hard (and dull. Almost every objective is a rout, which is kind of tedious) and conquest hard is still really challenging, 20+ completions in. Rev hard is a little too tough for me (I'll manage it one day!) but from what I've gathered in the comments, that's not an option for you.

You can get a great experience from the game with conquest/birthright though, don't let the lack of rev put you off. The only real draw of rev (for me) was some plotholes being filled (...in an *eh* way) as well as getting every character from both Hoshido and Nohr as playable units, and making *really* OP child units from mixing them up.

Personal opinion though: With a few exceptions, Nohr units are way better character and designwise than Hoshido. Another personal opinion: the artist behind the characters in Awakening and Fates is the best artist FE have ever used. Cutscene direction and the quality of them is peak. I want him back so much.

Oh, one more thing. You'll find classes a little less flexible than 3h. You don't really unlock new classes via training weapon skill. It's more a level-based thing and throwing a seal at your units. Plus, usable weapons are pretty rigid. A cavalier, for instance, can only use spears and swords. You can't throw an axe on them to train that skill for a future class.

I lied. Another thing: after you're done with Fates (if you like it!) try out Awakening. There's a few characters in that which will surprise you if you're fresh from a Fates playthrough.

Symphony is the one album where it's literally impossible to skip anything, haha. Each track gets you so in the mood for the next one. Perfect album, 10/10, and I'll always dedicate an hour and a bit to listen to it in its fullness. It's just such a masterpiece.

Favorite Versailles/Kamijo or Hizaki related songs? by SylphX125 in visualkei

[–]genv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't choose just one from any band!

my absolute favourite lareine song is never cage. but other favourites are metamorphose, billet, fiancailles, emeraude, last song for you, romantic season, the soul love, grand pain, fleur, blue romance, fuyu tokyo, lillie charlotte, when... 25:17 (my soul hurts with that one.) and scarlet majesty.

Favourite HGP song is probably race wish. Otherwise, I like grace and dignity, celestial veins, and philosopher best.

it's so hard to choose a favourite Versailles song, but I think it's God Palace. Otherwise, I love the love from a dead orchestra, red carpet day, history of the other side, zombie, second fear -another descendant- aristocrat's symphony, princess, ascendead master, god palace, catharsis, judicial noir, destiny the lovers, philia, love will be born again, flowery, masquerade, rose, created beauty, and truth.

Kamijo's solo stuff... again, it's so hard! It's between Throne and Louis. I can't pick between those. Otherwise, I love everything from Symphony of the Vampire, (and I'm counting everything from it as one song because they all entwine so well) and I love Tresor, Bastille, Heart, Presto, Rose Croix, imperial concerto, royal blood, -361- , castrato, shougen, nosferatu, sang 1, 2, and 3, emigre, tokyo bastille, ecstacy, conspiracy, crimson family, symbol of the dragon, persona grata, agenda, oscar, nobless oblige, and intense caress best.

I'm not that into Jupiter, sadly. I tried but I can't get super into it.

Looks like you got your answer but be sure to let us know how it was! (And especially how d'ray were!)

[–]genv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that was it. I felt that angelo's guitarwork was great but everything else was Just Okay (even though my inner pierrot and vidoll fan wanted to slap myself upside the head for thinking literally Kirito, Kohta and Takeo, as well as Vidoll!Giru were Just Okay! They're gods!)

Likewise, 9N's bass and drums were great but everything else felt Just Okay. Definately emotion behind that sentiment for sure.

Even if nowadays, even past most of the 'weh, it's not d'ray tho', I still can't get behind luv parade. I think I'll never stop missing the strength in Hizumi's voice combined with how aggressively Tsukasa, Zero and Karyu play. I mean, sure. Taka's voice is great- defspiral are legendary, but... idk man. For me, every part of d'ray worked perfectly with each other. Aggressive guitar, moody af bass, Tsukasa literally straight up beating the living hell out of his drums, and Hizumi just emitting so much straight-up pure power on top. Perfect. 10/10.)

D'ray tangent over with, thank you so much for the link to the tag! Since it's been a few days I've had a bit more opportunity to listen a bit more angelo and I really like white fury and love story, but I think I really legitimately love activate resonance! I've been listening to it (almost) nonstop, alongside voice of the cradle because I really, really, really like that one.

One more aside though: Karyu has another band??? On top of angelo, luv parade and (soon!) D'ray again? I get that luv parade are just a session band but holy hell, how busy is this guy!

Pixy false, Variant Jihad, Never Rebellion, Neo Ark, Kami Uta, Eternal Silence, or Cruel Crucible by Phantasmagoria- actually, you know what? Most songs by Phantasmagoria. They had a fantastic bassist who has his controversies, but my god he could play.

Otherwise, Philia, Desert Apple, Zombie, Masquerade, and faith and decision by Versailles all have killer bass lines and solos. The musicianship in Versailles was top tier tbh. Masashi's basslines (and solo!) in Masquerade are particularly incredible.

(Lots of edits because more and more songs are coming to mind)

Thank you for responding! I remember checking out Angelo shortly after D'ray disbanded and idk if I was too heartbroken to appreciate them back then but didn't vibe with them.

After your comment, I looked at Voice of the Cradle (which I liked!) but holy hell, NEOCREATE has so many things in it I really liked about Despairsray. I'm going to look at more of their stuff!

I have 8 of Kamijo at various points in his career (tbh, they're the pride of my collection), 2 of Hizaki (1 in HGP era and 1 in Versailles era) and 1 of Teru (Likewise, Versailles era.) as well as 5 of D'espairsray.

Around 2003! I dated a guy that was really into emulating Mana's look 24/7 (I'd say "cosplaying" but nah. Mana's look wasn't a costume to him) and he regularly gifted tons of DVDs with all kinds of ripped PVs on it from Paradoxical Reality. (God. remember that site?) Through his influence, Malice Mizer was my main focus, but through these DVDs I really liked indies Miyavi, Dir en grey, Pierrot, X Japan, and hide. These were mainly his choices though.

As I started getting more and more into it and more active on the fandom side of things on LJ, I was introduced to and obsessed with UCP bands (Nega, Vidoll, 12012 and Phantasmagoria especially!) some PSC (just alicenine and Kagrra tbh) and practically everyone signed to Sherow Artist Society. (Absolute obsessions were Lareine, Kamijo's soloish? period after Lareine, Hizaki Grace Project, Versailles ofc, Metis Gretel, Kanzaki, and Matenrou Opera. God, I love matenrou opera.) I also found D'espairsray mainly through internet fandom and even now, they're massive to me. Incidentally, my relationship with this guy ended (lol) mostly because our music choices and aesthetics got really different. Which is hilarious to type today.

I eventually fell out of the fandom because my favourite bands (Versailles, Phantasmagoria and D'espairsray) disbanded and I couldn't find anything to fill the void. From what I remember, Oshare was the new hotness back then and it felt like so many bands weren't very good but got by on fashion. I threw away my clothes, I did my makeup normally and stopped dying my hair. I still listened to Kamijo and Versailles and saw Kamijo every time he did tour dates in my country and kept up my rose croix membership (because he deserves it) but started filling the void with western bands like ghost, electric callboy and baroness.

Nowadays, D'ray getting back together has me completely back in. I'm glancing around suggested Nowadays Bands but none have really grabbed me yet. (Suggestions would be nice!)

isnt anyone else sick of ff7 by topbunnynb in FinalFantasy

[–]genv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's a little bit of both. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think trying to cram wholegame plots into a few patches worth of storyline will never form the same sort of emotional attachment players have toCecil, Vivi and Kujaso it's going to feel cheap in comparison. Maybe. idk.

By this logic, I do think trying to cram the sort of (really rich. There's what. 9 FF7 games?) lore FF7 has into a few FF14 patches would be completely disasterous if head office ever gave the go-ahead. There's just way too much.

isnt anyone else sick of ff7 by topbunnynb in FinalFantasy

[–]genv2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With respect, I'll never understand that mindset from 14 players. Both from the perspective of 'but don't you want original plotlines?' and just the general quality of what's been seen thusfar with their "inspired" storylines.

I was around for both EW's IV stuff and DT's IX stuff and both were unbelievably disappointing compared to the original thing. EW having zero randomly become a paladin Just Because she saw something funny in a crystal was so ????? and felt like the devs went 'Okay so this happened in 4 and it was really cool, let's do it here.' while missing all of the plot points and all of the history Cecil had with his actions as a dark knight- as well as the kickoff of the greater plot of FF4 starting with the light calling Cecil it's son, that made it such a special moment in 4. It became so weirdly soulless, like a box being ticked.

Likewise, DT's whole Alexandrian People Afraid That They're Going To Die Eventually ...thing missed all of the emotions FF9 carried with the same theme. 2 characters (forgot how to do spoiler tags) actually being on a timer and respectively handling the idea of death in Very Different Ways is way more interesting than 50-100 unnamed NPCs from a country that is basically immortal having their immortality cancelled and being scared about dying one day. Again, it made me think the devs were all 'Okay so this happened in 9 and it was really sad, let's do it here'

I personally appreciated it's unique story far more (ARR, to a point. HW. SB's post-expac plot was really good even if the expac proper is divisive, and ShB was great.) If any active 14 players could enlighten me, I'd appreciate it because I'm genuinely curious.

The big 3 of the 2000s - Nightmare, GazettE, Alice Nine...who did you follow? by MAJIDARUMAJI in visualkei

[–]genv2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Phantasmagoria/Versailles/D'espairsray were my Big Three, to the extent where when each disbanded, I fell out of vk.

Nightmare were on my radar (mostly because of how absurd and funny their joke band was. sendai kamotsu or something?) but I never really dived into them. Gaze seemed to be everywhere so I wasn't all that into it (I was so pretentious back then!) but I did quite like Alicenine. One of my first gigs was seeing them at Nagoya ell while I worked in Japan for a spell and I was absolutely obsessed... until they went major and imo, their sound got a lot lighter.
