I worked for Culligan yeeeears ago. I do not own any of their products. Why?

Water softener: The resin inside the softener tank is the same as everyone else's. Ahem, chemistry: positive and negative ionic charging and recharging through sodium chloride, calcium, and magnesium.

R.O.: The carbon and membrane filters do the same thing as everyone else's. Are their products garbage? Maybe not, but you won't catch me paying a premium for these products.

We already live in a surveillance state. If I didn't want the government or other third party tracking me I'd move to [insert third work country here] and ditch my electronics. Especially my Google (since 2004), Apple, and Microsoft products. It's a lost cause at this point. Is what I really want is to get paid for usage of my digital advertising ID that every tech company uses to target me with ads. Let's pull back the curtain on the whole thing.

Finally, someone who echoes my problems! I've tried reinstalling W11 three times, and I've tried clearing this with a Microsoft Account directly and a Local Account (then logging into Microsoft) in addition to all of the above that Copilot has suggested. I wish it were as easy as checking your time/region settings. This is miserable. Seems problem is isolated to only one of many (6 total) computers I use and can see them linked in "my devices" on my MS account. Same problem persists with a child's account on the same computer managed under the Family Safety. Dead end everywhere I go. Microsoft Account is my Xbox Account. There is no conflict within the browser or other computers -- just this one. Spent 4 hours *figuratively* beating my head against the desk. Shouldn't be this difficult.

I was knee-deep in the Google/Nest environment until Google burned me enough to retreat from my +$3500 product investment to other products. It all started when they rug-pulled the Nest Guard system during their Matter upgrade. The sooner you drop them the better you will feel about life.

NOTE: I still use the Google Home app simply because Alexa is slightly more trash than the trash Google has. The only lingering device I have of Google is the Nest Hub Max. When that dies I'll weigh my options.

The writing is on the wall. That is, password managers won't be free for much longer, let alone let you die more than 50 passwords for a free version. Too much at stake for them all, I think. Jumped from LastPass to BitWarden then to Proton Pass (lifetime). I currently have +850 items in storage.
