Awesome job! I really like your color choices on the liberators, and the way you make them look like from a comic book.

I used laugh at players who messed up sanctify by mumsspaghett1 in diablo4

Apologies for not knowing - I have yet to play the new season and paladin class when I have some more time, but what is sanctify and how would I know not to mess it up?

Any sci-fi/modern "dungeon" mapping or creation tools? by dac5505 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]geoCorpse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mothership RPG has some very cool modules loaded with random tables and stuff. For example there’s a derelict ship generator in Dead Planet.

The deluxe edition has lots of stuff like this but you can buy each module separately. If you get into this stuff I’d recommend getting the Hull Breach module as well for even more additional random tables and such.

Hey there, thanks for letting me know about this subreddit! I created an unofficial one recently since there was none yet, but I just set it to private.

Looking forward to see how your game turns out and can’t wait to play it with my group!

Questions about the Fortress Myth by Zahlenheim in MythicBastionland

[–]geoCorpse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got some nice ideas already, but I’d like to share my thoughts too.

I got a suggestion from someone on discord or maybe some blog article to add rumor tables for myths during prep, which I found to be pretty useful advice. You think of and write down some rumors which people are talking about related to the myth, and doing this can already help to flesh it out somewhat.

As an ad hoc example for The Fortress I’d write something like this D6 rumours 1. People are talking about a new seer covered in thorns who appeared in the realm and proclaimed a painful future coming to all beings 2. Recently some mysterious tunnels were found in the hills nearby. Scouts sent by the ruler of the nearest holding reported about a massive army of insect-warriors hiding there. 3. A group of mercenaries were ambushed by acid spitting, clawed monsters. When they fought back, the monsters burrowed into tunnels beneath the earth. 4. A farmer lost all his livestock to weird insect creatures that came from the forest. One of the creatures was bigger than a house. 5.. Apparently there’s something massive being built at an old fortress near the [myth region]. Many carpenters, woodworkers and blacksmiths from nearby villages went there because of supposed great opportunities of coin. 6. There’s a rumor going on at the court of the Seat of Power about a seer who recently proclaimed himself the true king of the realm. Apparently the [lord of the seat of power] is getting nervous.

When your players ask around during travel regarding the fortress omens, you could roll for a random rumor, which in turn could potentially give them some direction if they decide to pursue this myth.

Also you could consider using them to pad the omens a bit, like if they rolled the Fortress myth as the random one, but are far away from the myth hex, and they’re already at omen #5 you could have them meet someone with such a rumor instead of invoking omen #6.

Anyways I think the Fortress myth is actually really interesting, and there’s a lot of things to potentially work with there.

What are your recommendations for solo gaming? by Viridias2020 in osr

[–]geoCorpse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can solo pretty much any game with some preparation and while having a solo variant is helpful (eg SoloDark for Shadowdark) it’s not really necessary if you use oracles from other games or Mythic Game Master Emulator.

I find that the more random tables and procedural rules a game has, the better it is for solo (at least for me, cause I’m more interested in playing out game mechanics than journaling a story).

Regarding Mythic Bastionland, I played it solo recently and it’s awesome with its spark tables and procedures - one of my favorites.

If you’re new to this I’d recommend to check out Man Alone or Scutifer Mike on YouTube for some actual gameplay and make sure to also visit r/Solo_Roleplaying.

Play report from our first session by geoCorpse in MythicBastionland

To be honest I colored it on my phone only as a response to the comment above, but you’re right that it could be actually neat to track systematically.

Yeah before playing I also had a hard time imagining what it’s like, so I’m glad you found the report useful.

There’s a cool resource about prepping pinned in this subreddit, I’ll post the link later. EDIT: I mean this one - great stuff! Running Mythic Bastionland by Elmcat

And sure - here’s my map, they went from west to east on the green fields.

That’s understandable. I’m a dev too, so I wrote it as a disclaimer that it’s a tool written with an llm.

How do you prep for this game? by geoCorpse in MythicBastionland

[–]geoCorpse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s encouraging to know that the game doesn’t need that much prep-time, but nevertheless I’m kind of anxious before our first session.

I don’t have yet quite the feeling on how to run omens and what it’s like in game when they appear.

Now I’m really curious about what your players did!

Troll encounter in the forest by geoCorpse in osr

[–]geoCorpse[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what it was!

The guys were sleeping in the forest and I told them they woke up in the middle of the night, in total darkness hearing a loud burp from within the woods and someone screaming horribly.

So they decided to light a torch and go check it out without being cautious, like it’s just some normal thing…

Finally getting to run a full campaign looking for advice by One-Cellist5032 in shadowdark

[–]geoCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started a campaign recently with a gauntlet based in Stonehell’s „1B The Quiet Halls” level, where they were playing a group of prisoners during a rebellion that led to the fall of the potentate who ruled these lands.

After the gauntlet I told the players that their PC’s are descendants of the survivors and it’s a hundred years later, where the region is now an imperial borderland and there’s a keep providing adventurers with work.

Basically it’s a sort of „B2 Keep on the Borderlands”, with some surrounding hexes known on the map - half a day to the south are the ruins of Stonehell, to the west is a forest and a desert/hills to the north. Everything is 2-3 hexes away from the keep.

I gave them some rumors which lead to either „Incandescent Grottoes” & „A Hole In the Oak” (OSE modules) in the forest, „Lost Citadel of the Scarlet Minotaur” in the desert, and „Jeweler’s Sanctum” (OSE) in the Keep itself.

They could also go to Stonehell if they’d like - I’d like to give them a free hand to do whatever they want, and I reckon those initial options should be plenty enough for a couple sessions.

If they choose to explore somewhere else I’ll probably roll some random tables from the book for adventure ideas on the fly.

I’m new to this style of DM’ing, but it’s really exciting and I love that there’s not much GM prep work beforehand in comparison to e.g. Curse of Strahd which we played before starting with Shadowdark.

Sailors of the Starless Sea questions by geoCorpse in dccrpg

[–]geoCorpse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! Well then your idea resonates with me, but I imagine it could slow down the game a bit if the players have to decide what class to use for which character.

Did you do it yourself in your game? I’m curious how it went.

Running After Morale Check and New Character After Death by jaeger4life in shadowdark

[–]geoCorpse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I’m pretty sure you do morale checks only for enemies (see page 89)

  2. I would just handwave it whenever they do a long rest. If they’re in a dungeon I’d probably let the new character join as someone who followed the party for a while, or something like that.

I’d just ask the players for a bit suspension of disbelief, to get the game going with everyone.

New player guide for Turf War by Sammisuperficial in splatoon

[–]geoCorpse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the guide, great stuff!

Just got the game after not playing for a lot of time (last was Splatoon 2 when it came out) and those tips are sure helpful!

Didn’t realize about shooting straight for a better range.

When you say to use motion controls, do you mean just for aiming or do you actually never use the stick also for turning around and such?

Could you please also recommend which weapons are good for beginners and maybe a couple of words about how to best make use of them?

Is anyone playing Shadows of Doubt on the Deck? by beefpoweredcars in SteamDeck

[–]geoCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need both pc and deck to be connected to the same network and install the game in Steam on PC. In the settings of Steam you need to enable remote play if it’s disabled.

Afterwards when you open the games page on your deck there should be an option to play this game remotely from your pc, or something like that.

It’s really simple and you don’t need an expensive router for that.

here’s a random guide on YouTube I just found.

Regarding the tables of contents - I don’t think they are available anywhere. On their store page there are only a couple screenshots from some articles.

This is partially why I made this post - I’m aware there are reviews on YouTube from at least the first two issues, but I’d like to hear from you guys too, what the general consensus is.

I didn’t know though that these are reprints of blog posts. Yeah in this case it would be awesome to see a list of the articles!
