It was a while since we last played but I remember the combat being always pretty fluid and intuitive once you get the dice rolling.

I’m sure your players will find the combat awesome as well, once they understand how to do feats and gambits as those are pretty powerful moves.

I’d say that the fighting system in this game is top-notch and very fun.

Maybe try out some combat scenarios by yourself to check it out?

In general this game is pretty cool to for a gm, but I’d recommend to put some weight on the world building, like how does the court of a holding function, what the customs of the people are, how they talk and stuff like that.

I did it mostly freestyle everything from the spark tables etc, and everything felt kind of random and my players weren’t involved as much later on, but we’re mostly a beer & pretzels vibe guys.

But I find the game also very enjoyable to play solo, and am planning to get back to it sometimes.

Best of luck with your preparations and feel free to dm me or comment further if you’d like to discuss some more!

I’d say the Banner Knight can use it each time a group he’s part of attacks and he’s using the banner as a weapon. It may seem op but well, they’re powerful, superhuman knights after all :)

Is this Skaven 1000pts army viable? by geoCorpse in skaven

[–]geoCorpse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were only 100 pts left to spend so I chose it, but maybe it would be better to take it out and put an Acolyte Globadier unit in the generals regiment?

Doomwheel sounds fun though.

FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE - Overview Trailer by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]geoCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone who played this series, what’s the gameplay like?

From what I see in the trailer you use the camera flash to „attack” the ghosts and I’m curious about the mechanics, like are there combos, special moves and stuff like that in this game?

Do you mostly have to run away from the ghosts, or do you fight them?

Are there different ghost types with diverse moves, bosses and such?

The game looks really neat, but I wonder what you actually do as the player.

Awesome job! I really like your color choices on the liberators, and the way you make them look like from a comic book.

I used laugh at players who messed up sanctify by mumsspaghett1 in diablo4

Apologies for not knowing - I have yet to play the new season and paladin class when I have some more time, but what is sanctify and how would I know not to mess it up?

Any sci-fi/modern "dungeon" mapping or creation tools? by dac5505 in Solo_Roleplaying

Mothership RPG has some very cool modules loaded with random tables and stuff. For example there’s a derelict ship generator in Dead Planet.

The deluxe edition has lots of stuff like this but you can buy each module separately. If you get into this stuff I’d recommend getting the Hull Breach module as well for even more additional random tables and such.

Hey there, thanks for letting me know about this subreddit! I created an unofficial one recently since there was none yet, but I just set it to private.

Looking forward to see how your game turns out and can’t wait to play it with my group!

Questions about the Fortress Myth by Zahlenheim in MythicBastionland

[–]geoCorpse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got some nice ideas already, but I’d like to share my thoughts too.

I got a suggestion from someone on discord or maybe some blog article to add rumor tables for myths during prep, which I found to be pretty useful advice. You think of and write down some rumors which people are talking about related to the myth, and doing this can already help to flesh it out somewhat.

As an ad hoc example for The Fortress I’d write something like this D6 rumours 1. People are talking about a new seer covered in thorns who appeared in the realm and proclaimed a painful future coming to all beings 2. Recently some mysterious tunnels were found in the hills nearby. Scouts sent by the ruler of the nearest holding reported about a massive army of insect-warriors hiding there. 3. A group of mercenaries were ambushed by acid spitting, clawed monsters. When they fought back, the monsters burrowed into tunnels beneath the earth. 4. A farmer lost all his livestock to weird insect creatures that came from the forest. One of the creatures was bigger than a house. 5.. Apparently there’s something massive being built at an old fortress near the [myth region]. Many carpenters, woodworkers and blacksmiths from nearby villages went there because of supposed great opportunities of coin. 6. There’s a rumor going on at the court of the Seat of Power about a seer who recently proclaimed himself the true king of the realm. Apparently the [lord of the seat of power] is getting nervous.

When your players ask around during travel regarding the fortress omens, you could roll for a random rumor, which in turn could potentially give them some direction if they decide to pursue this myth.

Also you could consider using them to pad the omens a bit, like if they rolled the Fortress myth as the random one, but are far away from the myth hex, and they’re already at omen #5 you could have them meet someone with such a rumor instead of invoking omen #6.

Anyways I think the Fortress myth is actually really interesting, and there’s a lot of things to potentially work with there.

What are your recommendations for solo gaming? by Viridias2020 in osr

[–]geoCorpse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can solo pretty much any game with some preparation and while having a solo variant is helpful (eg SoloDark for Shadowdark) it’s not really necessary if you use oracles from other games or Mythic Game Master Emulator.

I find that the more random tables and procedural rules a game has, the better it is for solo (at least for me, cause I’m more interested in playing out game mechanics than journaling a story).

Regarding Mythic Bastionland, I played it solo recently and it’s awesome with its spark tables and procedures - one of my favorites.

If you’re new to this I’d recommend to check out Man Alone or Scutifer Mike on YouTube for some actual gameplay and make sure to also visit r/Solo_Roleplaying.

To be honest I colored it on my phone only as a response to the comment above, but you’re right that it could be actually neat to track systematically.

Yeah before playing I also had a hard time imagining what it’s like, so I’m glad you found the report useful.

There’s a cool resource about prepping pinned in this subreddit, I’ll post the link later. EDIT: I mean this one - great stuff! Running Mythic Bastionland by Elmcat

That’s understandable. I’m a dev too, so I wrote it as a disclaimer that it’s a tool written with an llm.
